Sounds like you have a spider phobia. That's easily cured with 1-session exposure therapy :D
Tell me what that exposure therapy will look like...

I, too, dislike spiders

Click on the thumbnails to enlarge them into their full, glorious, detail.

I'm sure the thing not only jumps right at your face with the intent of chewing it off, but has the amazing ability to produce ear-piercing screeches.

Spiders are actually nice. Dont keep them inside your room (translation: Clean your room to avoid problems) and you can deal with them just fine. They wont atack (except a very few varieties) and some of them make good pets... My friend has a caranguejeira (crab spider, if translated), and he likes her very much.

For those who love them like Vicsun, there goes a good one.

Hope you enjoy :D

arachnaphobia(sp?) is the fear of spiders.

But i personnally think spiders are cool. I remember I freaked out my entire class (including my teacher) in the 4th grade because I picked up a spider. It wasn't even dangerous  All it could do is spin webs and suck fluids out of flies and other insects :p

Some of them kill in few hours. Some of them paralyze you. Most of them will chain allergic reactions with their poisons, and you'll have hallucinations and pain in the chest, or troubles with breathing. They are indeed cool, but watch out.

The kind of spiders you have locally Luis are most likely far more dangerous than those up here. As far as I know there really aren't any species of spider that have this area as their natural habitat that are truly dangerous to humans. The Daddy Long Leg Spider, no clue what it's scientific name is, I was told could kill a human with it's poison but would never be strong enough to bite and break the skin of a human. The worst I've come up with is little irritating bites, so unless you happen to have some allergy to spiders your fine up where I am.

Good for you :D

We do have plenty of spiders here, and if our house wasnt spider proof we'd sure have to take extra care when going to bed. I'll wait for the next time i see a caranguejeira, then I'll take a picture of it and post for you guys... Specially if she is trying to bypass the net on my window, as it happened a few months ago. :)

Yep, that's right, it's spelled arachnophobia. Nowadays it's just called spider phobia though, the older latin terms are replaced with more modern language also in medicine.

Ah, I see.

If I had any possibility whatsoever to take care of a pet, I would love to have a spider like this Asian beauty, but they are very difficult to house in captivity:

@Ideal Max: I don't know, but seeing how intensely blue he is, I would guess he shedded recently, yes.

I would think the problem might be keeping somebody else captive inside the same house where that thing resides. You know, there are plush toys that same color of blule, and they don't jump, run, walk, climb, scamper, poison, etc.

I would take is as a selection criteria for who were my real friends and not :D

And I've never seen an indigo plush toy spider...no plush toy spiders at all, in fact :(

Well, if we're going to go back to that arguement, Cats rule! They're smarter than dogs. My cat (or kitten actually) was able to ring the door bell without me even training it to. Amazing... yes I know. :D

Yes I have a massive phobia thanks very much all you 'orrible cretins that posted the pics and @CE tut tut I'd have expected more sympathic understanding from a mod than zipping people into a sleeping bag full of them, I know you were joking but .....I'm still shuddering in revulsion, ugh, bleck, fedhsjbe, snaaggghhh, those are just some of the noises I just made at the thought of spiders.

Hence why cats are fantastic, cute, only 4 legs, mammals, evil in a good way unlike spiders and not freakish to look at. I reiterate with annuhfdeu.

Thank you and good night
