That really is disgraceful. And I suppose Bush wonders why Green Peace all over the world complains. I'm hardly an environmentalist but this disgusts me. :(

Whats so bad about the Oz president? Seems like a nice do... I mean man. :D ;)
Of course it's a good idea. ;)
The Oz Prime Minister is basically a joke, equally as much a slave to big business as is Bush, and a Bush flunky to boot.

That would be cool indeed.
Will read through Nomad's articles when I get back from dinner.
EDIT-That really is quite worrying. Don't worry @nomad, you're not being annoying by posting relevant articles. I hadn't realized how far this extended, 4 billion litres of water wasted on mining while Perth faces total sprinkler bans and the worst water shortage ever so far. :(

No Nomad, they are good. They give us even more of an idea how stupid this is becoming.

@ Ode, come now, surely the Prime Minister is good for something, perhaps tidying up the toilet bowl? :D

Agreed.

He's a good boot-licker, at any rate.
If people really care, given how unimportant Australia is in the global community, Tammy and I (and any other Aussies) can find examples of where bowing and scraping to the US has hurt Australian interests, but yet Howard has doen so anyway.
If that doesn't do you, we can find general bad moves/coverups etc he's made during the 9 years or so he's been in power. It'd be a big thread though. :(

You know how Dubyah's keeping people in fear of terrorism? Howard's done the same thing with border control, so his 'tough' policy on immigrants (mandatory detention for years at a time), coupled with voter ignorance/apathy and compulsory voting under a 2-party preferred system (not to mention a massive propaganda campaign to villify asylum seekers) has kept him in office. He was caught out having blatantly lied to the public during the elections last year, but so far nothing has come of it, and it's unlikely anything will. :(

Ah the state my country is in, I live here in the US, in fact I live directly under the Bush tyranny, one of his brothers lives where I live. It's times like this that I wish that I hadn't changed my name, Damn but this is so depressing.

<edited> Likely to start a flaming session.

For all those interested check out Michael Moore's web site and buy his book Stupid White Men, it is a real eye opener and funny to boot, although and this is the depressing part all true.

Sometimes I get so angry at that moron that I am tempted to go to washington and find a nice sniper position and take him out, oh not seriously of course but the fantasy helps me calm down.

We in the US live in not a democracy, not a republic but a benevolent(sometimes not so benevolent) oligarchy, the only difference being that we tell the people they are free when what they really are is in chains.

Oh well thats just my ranting on the Bush thing, way of topic I suppose.

As to the forests, I will quote from LOTR, "It would seem like wisdom but for the warnings in my heart". A apt phrase because there is indeed some evidence to support the idea that thinning out the forest would reduce forest fires, but key thing here people the primary problem is that there is to much underbrush not trees, the underbrush serves as fuel for forrest fires. At the same time, if the rich people didn't build there homes so close to those forrests then they would not have that problem, same situation we have on the east coast on Florida, the rich people build the condos on the beach and when the next hurricane comes along are shocked that somehow their precious million dollar homes were destroyed, lesson don't build in a freaking disaster prone area.

The forest fires are even more exacerabated by the inclement weather conditions which increase the danger of forest fires. Now what are these inclement weather conditions caused by, why something else Bushy does not believe in, global warming, yes it is probably being whispered around, but not loudly proclaimed, global warming is very likely responsible for the weather conditions which are causing the forest fires in the first place. What is global warming caused by, well CO2 emissions, where do CO2 emissions come from, well life, and human machines, most of which is produced by yes you guessed it our idiot bushy and his buddies in the industry.

Oh well that was my ranting spiel, sorry for the longness of the post, but the current coup of a government in my country really has a way of seriously pissing me off.

Oh drat censored again and since I can't remember what I originally wrote, I can't rewrite, curse curse curse you all, stupid brain, and flame threads are the best threads not that I was intentionally starting one, but they are very fun.
