In future if you don't want too much spam you could add a "No spam" title to the Thread :)

Who is at fault in this instance though, just because it says no spam doesn't automatically relegate the thread to being uninteresting. If Willa_ly had made it clear that they didn't want spam then it would now not be an issue

I know, but i usually see no-spam threads die after a couple of replys, while if there is spam in the thread the topic changes, and thus there will be more reply's (that are not related to the topic)

It's just hard to keep a discussion going over here

I understand that, but if they don't reference what the person wants from the thread then they are quite annoying. This is where the No Spam title comes in, i view it as a way for the topic to stay on track....it's not as if there isn't enough threads to spam in ;)

Depends on the subject or the people having the discussion, look at Beldin's marriage vs relationship thread, that got to over 300 replies

That's true, and i myself think that in some threads could be less spammed,
and that's it's gone so far that you have to ask not to spam this thread is realy not a good thing.

But i think whe should end this conversation, where spamming a thread! :p

Re Marriage vs. partnership

@Sleep-Yes, but that was mostly due to SS, EMINEM and Fable.

@Willa Ly: If you are seriously interested in obtaining information about peoples chewing gum and packet preferences, may I suggest a couple of things?

1. This board is very international, a lot of us (like me) have only tried or even heard of some of the chewing gums your poll include. This means our ratings can't be judged in the same way as the rating of a person who is familiar with all the products on your list. Therefore, you might want to ask both what products a person is familiar with, and what he/she likes best.

2. Packages of the same product can vary from country to country. Thus, you should specify what country's package you are referring to.

You could try posting a poll, then you'd get results that no-one could spam up and we'd still be able to spam up the thread, so you'd still be getting replies.

How do you make a poll Ode to a Grasshopper?

Mix one part spam with three parts beer, click the "Post a poll" option when you post a new topic, say the magic words "Where can I get a drink around here" or mention anything about Star Wars Episode 2 and sit back while your thread gets spammed to death at the mention of alcohol or Star Wars. :D

If you're really sneaky you'll rate your thread ***** and that sometimes helps.

Mentioning puffins or fish-slapping always draws some attention too.

*Lights up a spliff and offers it to Willa after breathing in* Mind if I smoke? :D

@Ode: You forgot the important part - you know - the one about sending money to the "Rolling Thunders (tm) orphanized beer keg fund" ! Image

Oh yes, there's that too. Phone 666-PARTY and we'll give you the address for sending cheques. ;)

Don't try to mock a spammer(or SLURR), lest they respond in kind. And never ever try to mock Georgi..

Georgeous is the Queen of Spam. Mock her at your own risk, she can turn things back on people quite well. I've been studying the technique, and have managed to come out more or less even on the occasions where our spamming paths have crossed.

It's only fair to warn the newcomers.
