@HLD Oh, Gorky's aren't all depressing and maudlin, a lot of their stuff is perfect for a chilled out summer afternoon... Unfortunately I don't have most of my CDs available at the moment, but I suggest you check out Patio Song, it's blissful :) (but mind out for the Welsh bits ;) )

@Aragorn Retuns it's probably just that 99% of pop songs are about love in some form or another... ;)

Lyrics, might not be exact: "I look at her and she looks at me, i've been thinking about her constantly, but she doesn't know how i feel."

If you know what it is, my sister will be happy, she's been harassing me to find out the title for about a week :)

Sounds vaguely familiar. What genre is it?

"I still wait for the phone in the middle of the night, thinking you might call me if your dreams don't turn out right. And it still amazes me that I lie here in the dark wishin' you were next to me with your head against my heart. If you asked me how I'm doin', I'd say just fine, but the truth is if you could read my mind, not a day goes by that I dont' think of you. After all this time, you're still with me, it's true. Somehow you remain, locked so deep inside. Baby...baby...oh...baby, not a day goes by."

yay a kindred spirit :) ...you're not a closet SFA fan are you? Are you Welsh? Is sleep Welsh? I don't remember...yeah..love is overused in pop music. It's wierd, because (although I know nothing whatsoever about it) Classical music doesn't seem to be constantly about love, but in Pop and Rock, there's a song about Guacamole, a song about Chewing Gum, and then all the rest are about love, as far as I remember....actually I seem to remember one about football as well...

and as for the lyric trivia, I'm sure we are all dying to impress each other with our musical knowledge, but if you must post lyrics on the net, why not make them really good ones...

Is sleep Welsh?
Yep :)

OK, I've found those 2, the others aren't specific enough - I'd need more text to make the searches work :( .

Song #3: "It's a day of reckoning." "It's independance day!" -> Song: "Independance Day" Artist:"Martina McBride ?"

Song #5: "I've just got one small problem here in Little Rock. Without you, baby, I'm not me." -> Song: "Little Rock" Artist : Collin Raye

@Kid -
"You go there you're gone forever, I go there I'll lose my way"

Enya, from Memory of Trees. Can't think of the title at the moment.

Try this (Australians may be at more of an advantage)

"Hate on my left hand,
Love on my right hand,
God at my command,
They don't understand"

or this one (for New Zealanders)

"You walk apon the water,
You shine like oil on machinery.
You're sharper than a knife
and I'll love you all my life"

so do Welsh lyrics count? ;)
... a song about tequila
ahh yes, and there's one about train or something as well that I just remembered...but every other pop or rock song ever is about love...I'm certain now.
I'd forget that hurriedly if I were you
