I don't know how much the new CERN LHC will be, but it's said to be in a similar region.

Detection of the Higgs boson and other, unknown particles that are believed to occur when matter and antimatter collide, is an expensive business. But it's most probably the only way to go if we want to understand what happened during the Big Bang (or rather, the nanoseconds after) and if we want to unify the 4 forces.

What a pity we can't collide electrons and positrons at home in the kitchen :( </STRONG>
Heh, I'm not going to be studying in that direction, but what I plan to research will still be very expensive, possibly more so. :(

Because of my tastes, dad says I need to marry two millionaires. Perhaps I should go for two billionaires? ;) :D

The Nobel prize winner in Literature was announced today - V S Naipaul, a British Trinidad-born writer who is described as a modern enlightenment writer in the trail of J Conrad. I haven't read him, unfortunately, but the press info sounded interesting, so I will :)

Sorry for forgetting the laurates in Economics - I always forget there is a prize in Economics.

Only the peace prize left to be announced tomorrow.

As an economics major, I was shocked to see that none of the winners this year are professors at the University of Chicago.

There must have been some mistake..... ;)

I'm sorry, I know virtually nothing about economics...what have the Chigaco guys done? Or are they just your teachers. ;)

I would guestimate that over half to 3/4s of the nobel prizes in Economics come from the staff at the U of C. It is the place to study econ.

I would have loved to go there for graduate work, but I slacked off too much in undergrad. :D ;)

It can be difficult finding employment as an indifferent econ major. :D

Although, you could always fall back on your good looks :p , whereas I cannot ;)

If my research fails completely, I could just pump in some silicon and become a porn star  That's a great option

Yeah, at him, Kayless! Kicking his and the whole Peace prize assembly's collective ass, and I'm sure they'll consider you for next years price. ;) :D

Serious note though: No bad choice IMO, but sort of flat.
