I have been a vicarious lurker via my roommate for about 3 mounts. Thank you Dragon Wench for initiating me. This is my first post.

Hekate is me, and I am her devotee. Her associate Goddesses, I follow as well: Persephone, Demeter, Ceres, Asteria, the Graces, the Moira. Her brother Hermes, and her lover Apollo.

Thank you again Dragon Wench! :D

I would have to say Poseidon, Lord of the Ocean, Master of Earthquakes, and Overseer of the Horse [including the seahorse]. Of the three brothers, his realm is the most interesting, and the most important in all Greek tales.

Djon, the thing I like most about Poseidon is that he saw right through that scallywag, Odysseus.

Hey, this is your initiation too! Thanks for joining me. ;)

Saw through him? How could Poseidon *not* see through a mortal who kills his own son? ;)

(For those who have missed the last 1,500 chapters of As the Ancient Greek World Turns, I'm referring to the Cyclops, who were sons of Poseidon. Odysseus blinded and killed one after it captured his crew, and barbequed them on successive days.)

What about Gene Hackman, does he count.... ;) :D

Good point, Fable. Gods would have about as much trouble seeing through the deeds of men as one might have seeing through Syran wrap.
But don't be yourself fooled by Odysseus' story that he's selling to the Phoecian king. Phoecians are Poseidon worshippers. Odysseus, the long tongued lout, is covering up for his lack of hekatomb to the great Earthshaker for helping the Achians win the war. Now that's hubris for you.

Gene Hackman, isn't he the personification of Dionysus? ;)

Why Sleep, that was a Greek classic. I think, that story should be put right next to the writings of Plato. Or was that Pluto? :D

Was Uranus Poseidon in a Roman life?

Uranus, sophmoric jokes aside, was the sky in Greek creation mythology.

From my dictionary of mythology...

Uranus
The divine personification of the sjy, whose main function in myth was to be the progenitor of a large number of children at the beginning of creation. Born of Gaia, without a mate, he went on to mate with his mother, and she bore the Titans. Ummm... you don't want to know what else happened to him! :o
