Let's share a virtual bottle of some nice single malt whisky from Islay. (I love the smell of the stuff, but I can't drink it IRL. Have to be a cup of tea instead.) It is indeed sad DP is leaving.

How's life otherwise?

Okay. IRL, I'm drinking a can of Guinness that my brother left at my house. It was founded in 1759 in Dublin. Wow! This is OLD Beer (And Georgi thought I was old)! It has a 'floating draught system' inside the can! Cool! Okay, taste?

Ahhhh.

Okay, its not Negra Modelo, but its not Tooth Sheaf either. That 'floating draught system' is great! :)

Disclaimer: for those of you under the legal drinking age or prone to excessive alcohol abuse, I am not promoting your use of this drink.

You mean there are some things older than you, Gwalchmai

Btw, I know you are an archeologist. If you don't mind talking about your job, would you care to tell me what you are digging up presently? Guiness? ;)

Not at all. BTW, I see you have moved to the Jurassic. Moving up in the world, are we? Is our little worm evolving, too?

Just today, I was discussing one of my recent digs with a man who is trying to start a business for analyzing ostrocods - microscopic fresh-water mollusks. The site I was working on had a prehistoric irrigation canal in it (and not much else - the site had been heavily impacted by historical and modern plowing). The canal contained trash – ceramics, ground stone (for grinding corn), chipped stone, and some decorative marine shell. Based on this, the site dates to the Colonial Period of the Hohokam – about 1400 years ago (we don’t have the 14C dates back yet). Anyway, this guy was able to look at my ostrocods, as well as the sediments in the canal deposits, and tell me the temperature of the water, the seasons of use, and the river system from which the water had derived. He also knew how much the water in the canal sat stagnant, and how much it was allowed to flow.
:D

Hey all. I'm sad to hear you are leaving, Darkpoet. It was great hanging out with you in the Dark Flame thread and I wish you the best in your new job. And I'll certainly raise a glass in DP's honor. How 'bout a whisky, neat, in a dirty glass. :)

@Gwalchmai: Yes, the little worm is evolving. She wants to have a brain! :D (Maybe you like to hear the background of my stupid username now?)
Actually, I've been thinking about starting a thread on evolution issues, since there are so many interesting things to discuss. Many people still seem to believe evolution = evoution theory = Darwin

What you tell me about your work seems very interesting. Fascinating stuff about the mollusk. What kind of culture was this and where? History is the subject in the world I'm most ignorant of :(

@Cheese: I have a nice ammonite dating from Devon. At night, it sometimes attack. :D
