And why didn't I get any treats?

@ Hill. What did you get done?
@ DJV. Because you are not chinese?

I thought you meant that, and that's tomorrow, isn't it?
Either way, Happy New Year, and may we all become canine in our thoughts.
I hate having bruised fingers, it makes typing painful.

How did your fingers get bruised?

Playing cricket yesterday. I was annoying the bowler by staring him down, so he bowled a rather fast one, which I misqued my shot, and took it right on my finger.
It'll be okay in a day or two though.
So how are you going Fiona?

See above. I've had a great time this month. I'm sorry it is finished but I will get more sleep next week. Can't be bad

Sounds like you had a good time.
We just had our national country music festival happen last week (it was Thursday).
It's famous, and it's invite only, the winners receive certain prizes etc.
My cousin entered, ended up coming second in one of the divisions, but apparently most of the people there said she deserved to win. It was basically because she was singing her own music, instead of old classics, that tipped the balance away from her.

Sounds like she is very talented. Country isn't really my thing but because it is so popular there is no denying they have some very gifted singers and musicians. The competition must have been fierce. Getting a place at all sounds like a big achievement to me

Yeah, well it kinda runs in their family, with all of them having country music skills.
But yeah, it was pretty tough from what I hear, so she was happy to get that far.

You musical too, DJ?

Not really, I played the piano, until we moved and I didn't have a teacher. Then played the flute... until it suddenly broke just before an end of year performance. After that it was never the same, so I stopped playing.
What about you?

Nah. I have no creative talents. But I'm a very good audience

Ahh well, though I believe anyone can learn an instrument, I mean sure, having long fingers help with a piano, a good ear with anything, good breathing for blowing instruments, etc., but I think anyone can learn it.
Have you ever tried, or did you just never get around to it?

by Fiona
Never tried. I suppose it never occurred to me. Probably helps if there is music in the house when you are growing up, but we didn't have any. No loss, the world needs audiences.

Well I'm sure you're a great audience member

.
And yes, you are right, we all need them... who else will boo us when we fail?
