Don't flame me for doing this, and if any mods erase thisn heads are gonna roll. See, I dont have a printer, I ran out of disks and I have this paper due tommorow morning. So for lack of a better idea, and with spam being non-existent at the moment, I'm gonna post this unfinished masterpeice, and copy it at the school library computers. Genius, no?
Oh, and go ahead and tell me what you think, just in case those one of you mods are getting trigger itchy. ;)

Reader’s Response to Titus Andronicus

Acts I of Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus introduce the characters of the story and the setting. Rome is warring with the various barbarous tribes, and has recently conquered the Goths. There is to be a new emperor, and the crown is between the eldest son of the late emperor, and the very popular General Titus Andronicus returned home to Rome. Tidus, by apparent custom, has brought some of the Goth royalty as prisoners, and his sons sacrifice the first son of Tamora, the Queen of the Goths, to appease the spirits of brothers that died in battle. Once this is done, the issue of the empery comes up. Though he is the clear favorite, Titus feels he is too old for the position, and allows prince Saturninus to be crowned emperor.
After Saturninus is declared emperor, he offers to take Titus’ daughter Lavinia as his wife, and Titus readily accepts, though it turns out that she’d been engaged to the prince’s brother Bassianus. When the two elope, it shames Tidus, and in a rage he kills his son, Mutius, for barring his way after Lavinia and Bassianus. Once Saturninus learns of Lavinia’s “betrayal”, he takes Tamora as his bride, instead. She convinces him to pretend to reconcile with Tidus and his family, so that she could get some serious revenge on Titus and his family.
In Act II, Tamora, her lover Aaron the Moor, and Tamora’s two remaining sons hatch a plot to kill the Andronici. They kill Bassianus and the two boys ravage Lavinia, and cut out her tongue and off her hands. Later, Aaron leads Martius and Quintus, both sons of Titus, to the pit that he’d put the body of Bassianus in, and they both fall into it. Aaron goes and brings Saturninus, and Tamora brings Titus and his son Lucius. Tamora presents Saturninus with a letter, framing the two boys for Bassianus’ death. Elsewhere, Lavinia is found in the forests by Titus’ brother Marcus, and leaves with her to inform Titus of her condition to end the second act.
So far the play seems basely violent, and looks to be mainly of lost loves, and people taking turns at revenge. I am surprised by the amount of references to Greek mythology, which appears to be a staple of Shakespeare’s Elizabethan English. Even at Lavinia’s rape and injury he says “But sure some Tereus has deflowered thee….Fair Philomel, why she just lost a tongue…” (45). Also, the Roman society seemed very spiritual, performing sacrifices of prisoners to appease the spirits (8).

Thanks

Good idea to use GB that way... :p
Did you reveal your name at the top of it though? ;)

I'd read through it, but reading anything related to Shakespeare is a bit much for me at the moment.

I hope it's not going to be completely empty here for the 30 minutes or so I can stay.... :o
Back in the evening then, I suppose.

Haha, maybe it's cuz I didn't expect to see you here this early.
Or maybe it's because today's my day off. My internal clock wakes me up weather I have to go to work or not. :D

But oh well. I'm here! :D How are you?

Wow.. People sure do reply fast in this thread. I think I posted that about a couple of minutes ago and there's already a post back! No wonder this threads soo huge. By morning it'd be up like twenty pages!

Anyway, so I haven't really been around the SYM forum. Tell me this "Spam Factory", from what I've seen I'm guessing you just talk about anything?

Ahh, so your all happy because I'm here hmm? Well that does make things better. :p That is evil to just wake up this early on your day off.

Matt got me sick. Little brother's tend to do that, although he's old enough to drink now, so he's not all that little.

@ Reaper, yeah, just babble nonsensically basically. ;)
