Hmmm Ysh..IIRC the Raise Dead spell won't work on elves, but resurrect should. It's one of those quirky rules from the original AD & D game.Originally posted by Yshania:

I usually play a neutral or neutral good half elf, but have played Ranger/Stalker, Fighter and Avenger...I have always played half elf from habit - in IWD true elves cannot be ressurrected (not that it applies to PC in BG of course
)</STRONG>
Well I suppose Ressurect is a lot stronger than Raise Dead so perhaps thats why thats the case. Anyone else with ideas why?Originally posted by T'lainya:

One of the reaons seems to have been the original designers worried about balancing the game. They had a number of arbitrary rules that were supposed to make balance the special abilities of demihumans, against humans. The source materials (complete book of Elves) also goes into detail about the elven creation myths and religion and the attitudes about necromancy. Supposedly elves were formed from the main elvish God's blood as he fought a hostile god (Gruumsh the orcish god IIRC). Therefore the elves have a strong tie to their gods, their spirits go to the place they call Arvandor. On the CG good plane, something like an arboreal paradise that is the home to the majority of the elvish pantheon. The way it was written, elves don't fear death,(also explaining the immunity to ghoul paralyzation)and they are actually resistant to leaving their deceased friends and family and their gods once they have died. Therefore it takes a very powerful call or spell to bring them back.Originally posted by Nippy:
