The fact that I’m part Jewish by heritage and not religion lets me slip under the radar. The people who had professed disbelieving in the Holocaust didn’t know I was part Jewish and didn’t intend their comments as a direct insult to me (though I’d hope everyone would be insulted by them). They were making some stupid off hand remarks and I politely but firmly assured them that the Holocaust was not made up or exaggerated. Aside from this incident most people I’ve met are very respectful. But it makes me wonder how many other folks out there choose to selectively forget the darker parts of history. But not all these cases are necessarily born of malice. If their parents told them the Holocaust wasn’t real then they’re going to grow up believing that and pass it on to their children.
@About Israel. Despite being part Jewish I’ve never had any real desire to go there, possibly because I’m also Alaskan and hate hot weather. Besides, to me Israel is synonymous with chaos and I’d prefer not to get killed when I go on vacation. I know their government is fubar and don't have much tolerance for it.

Re: Holocaust - I've been to Dachau. One of the most moving events in my life. Yeah, it happened. My only problem with the Jewish view is that they seem to leave out the gypsies, mental/physical (ly) disabled and all the others that were exterminated or interred in the Nazi death camps.
Yes, the Jews wrested Israel away from British rule. No, it was not a reward or reparation for the atrocities of WWII. According to them it was a homecoming after the Diaspora of the previous centuries.
Perhaps we should start another thread? This can become an intense discussion.

It's quite interesting to see how the history is taught in different countries, whereas i am not aware of much of the atrocities that went on during WW2 under no circumstances would i insinuate that they never happened or that they were not as basd as everyone says. It is like Saddam in Iraq, the people follow him because they know no better, they are not brought up in an enlightened society so they do not fully comprehend their leaders atrocities.
On the note of Histories and religion does anyone hold sway with the idea that the Bible was altered to suit the rule of certain Monarchs?

@Sleep; The King James Version comes to mind.....

So i am not the only one who thinks the King James is somewhat bigoted.

It's great poetry (of a kind), but clearly designed to match the policies of a particular monarch. I've seen good debates between King James fanatics and biblical scholars; the latter win, everytime, but the former simply don't know what the work "accuracy" means.

Accuracy seems to be in the eye of the beholder.
Seems this thread has ended as all must with me spamming them to death with useless knowledge.

Wanna bet? This thread is just like a buried temple to Diana of Ephesus--unearth the thing, and watch the adherents start to gather once more.
At least, that's the theory.

I bet you $20 shock dollars that no one bothers to start talking philosophically in this thread.

Oh, I can't do it, then, since you're trying to manipulate me into doing it. Too bad.
But if you withdraw your bet, I'll consider it.

General question; if the world started 4000 (or so) years ago (according to the Bible) who made the Clovis Point (accurately dated to 25,000 years ago)? Space aliens?
And if it was space aliens did God create them in His image also? Besides, I just can't imagine a race that possess interstellar travel using stone tools.....

Reading some stuff of this guy mentioned somewhere else in this thread, whom stated the world was created 6000 years ago, I guess he would just say, that the dating is off, because we can't determine a year of origin so presicely.
I can't imagine that the world would be created 6.000 years ago myself though
