See... this is what I've been trying to say all of this time... grey skies day after day after day are just awful to live under. It's why I welcome cold, snow and clear days, they are far easier to tolerate than the nasty damp, grey stuff.
I have lived full time in the snow belt before, and I definitely know which I prefer
I mean, OK maybe I'm a bit of a nut for liking cold and snow so much, but there is a method to my madness, honest!

I never thought you were, and I don't mind the cold, at all! My wife does, but then, as I may have remarked before, I'm cursed to fall in love with women who don't break a sweat until it's over 90 F. The snow I can take or leave, but if there's one thing I envy about the filthy and disgusting rich, it's the ability to move to a winter home with skies whose blue goes as far back as the length of one's life. (Sorry if I'm getting more than a bit purple there, but I'm listening to some pleasantly melancholy salon pieces I need to review by the young John Ireland.) The grey stuff really does wear you down: you're right. The rest of the year the skies around here are dramatically variable, with an emphasis on over-the-top double and triple weather conditions overhead at the same time. But the opposite is what we've got now.

Gods, won't somebody give me a few million dollars so we can move to somewhere pleasant for the winter? I promise to return it in another lifetime. Honest.

lol! Well my partner loves both the heat and humidity of the central part of the continent during the summers, and the snow and cold of the area through the winters (that he was and born and grew up in London Ontario probably has something to do with this).
Me.. unfortunately, my health can't really tolerate high heat and humidity...which is probably the only reason we are still on the West Coast....


Ah yes... that has been a constant theme around the ranch recently... to win the lottery and buy a couple of homes we can escape to.. *sigh* I certainly hear you there.

It's currently 22 degrees Fahrenheit here in north Texas, and the sky is currently clear. The forecast for Tuesday says to expect freezing drizzle and a high temperature of 34 degrees. I know that sounds like typical winter weather to most people (perhaps even mild to some of you up north), but the current temperature is actually about 20 degrees lower than the historical average for this time of year. I'm pretty uncomfortable when the temperature drops below 30 degrees.

Here's the funny thing. About 36 hours ago, the temperature was 77 degrees (2 degrees less than the record set in 1933). I thought it was warm on Friday and Saturday when the temperatures were in the mid-sixties, but I was unprepared for Sunday's weather. I had to remove some layers of clothing to remain comfortable outside. When the cold front blew in that evening (it was a very strong, cold wind from the north), I was once again taken by surprise. Monday was cold and gloomy, which was disconcerting just because it was a sudden change. We have lots of fluctuations like that in Texas, but I'm still not used to them.

Up and around 0 degrees Celcius. No wind for days. Lots of fog last night and this morning. I saw on the news last night that it is snowing in Morocco. We had one night of snow a month ago and I happened to run through it. It was dark and I already had trouble seeing the road, so I quit running early. Chances are that's all the snow we'll see all winter. It wouldn't be the first time in the last decade.

I like fog, it makes everything a bit more quiet I think. Last night while I was taking out the trash, I noticed how I could hardly hear the murmur of distant traffic. Then I started wondering what a thick fog would be like if there was a blackout. I mean, I couldn't see a damn thing anyway, but thanks to all the artificial light the perspective of the streets and buildings wasn't totally lost on me.

Crap weather here on The Reef. Rain, fog, and no fun at all. Last week we got 20cm of snow so I had hopes for Christmas, but noooooooo. It all washed away in a single night. Sign of the times.

Been clear, today, for the first time in roughly 2 weeks. In compensation, we had the coldest day in several years (from what we're told), with the temperature not climbing above 8 F, with howling winds. It's now 10 PM, with 0 F, and -22 F if the wind chill is factored in. Definitely not a night to be out sitting around a campfire.

Right before Christmas even. That's nice DW. Looks like it's going to be the same muddy business here as usual. Well, I wasn't a fan of JC to begin with. Except for that time when he wore shades and a trench coat and starred in the one Ionstorm game that didn't suck.

The weather is beutiful here, but it's the darkest time of the year, so we don't see much of the sun. Anyways, it turned yesterday, so by the end of January we'll already be able to see the difference.

I want snow.

Record lows yesterday all throughout much of the northern half of the US, courtesy of the arctic current that normally blows across Canada, and decided to dip down further south for a bit.

Been raining for the past two weeks. Heck, it even rained twice today.

It kinda looked like summer outside today, even though it was cold. When the sun went down it even looked a little hazy like it does after a hot day. Do you know the openings scene of The Day After Tomorrow? It shows an arctic region with sort of a colorful, warm, spring like sunrise on the horizon. That's sort of what it looked like.

seriously though, theres no rain, no snow, the temperature seems to settle at about 2 or 3 celsius. at least if it WERE raining sulphur i'd have something decent to say.

Two previous Christmas' were black, without snow, but in this Christmas it will be snowy at last. Love it.

It was -18 degrees (Fahrenheit) this morning, with wind chills to -40! I've lived near Chicago my whole life, and can't remember it being this cold. It's absolutely brutal outside.

And people think Sweden is cold? I just came back from a 3-week trip to Sweden, it was cold but certainly not that cold. Around 0-5C (30-40F) most of the time, only a couple of days as cold as -12C (10F). It was snowing for two days, that was great, I love snow
Now I'm back in LA, and it's summer temperature here. It's around 25-26C (77-79F), the sky is blue and the sunshine feels warm and nice compared to the cold in Stockholm. In fact, I just came home after having had a caffe latte and ice cream at the terrace of my favorite local coffee house.
