It's that dopamine/endorphin thing again.

I understand that a lot of what is said here is in jest or exagerrated for effect. And I'm not accusing either of you of being alcoholic, but having a social worker / therapist for a wife, I hear about diagnosis "stuff" all the time. When I read comments like the ones earlier (and similar comments come up from lots of people frequently) the first thing that pops into my head is "hey, that's a sign of alcoholism". Since I know that the topic has come up before, I was curious what you guys thought about it, whether it affected what you do, whether you completely ignore it, whether you even care, etc.
And I agree, if you're already sentenced you might as well have the benefit of doing it in the first place.

I figure as long as I don't get into
much
trouble, don't neglect my responsibilities, and can afford to live, my drinking is probably okay.

Yep, I've got issues, and I know it. I will never trust another doctor with my health again. I trust rum though, screw my liver. It regenerates, and frankly, it was predicted I was to be dead a year ago. Anything past 2005 is icing on the cake for me anyhow.
@ Darzog, I've heard it all before, so I understand. I prefer to drink alone to be honest. Less overstimulation. I control my drinking better too. My friends said I skipped straight to step 7 of alcoholism...drinking alone. I shrugged and said to them "I don't throw a fit when I'm out of beer, and I dont' need one when I wake up, and or everyday, looks who's talking" then proceed to go into my room with my screwdriver. I know my limits, my problems, and what I'm good at. I readily admit all of them. My father's and alcoholic, I believe my brother to be....I'm not so sure I am. It's my medicine of choice though, I will say that. Doctors ruined my life, and rum is safer than dealing with their kind ever again for me.

No, I mean that at the beginning of a drinking session, alcohol actually begins as a stimulant.

Well I appreciate the comments. It looks like the heaviness chased everyone away.
Maybe this will help. I found it pretty amusing and figured it would go well with this site. It takes a bit to load in case you want to watch it.

Any conversation I'm in can hardly be considered serious. But good night!

Yep, which explains why I get stuff done when I drink, then go to sleep.

I find that I need quite a bit of alcohol to get me going, and I don't get hungover often, if ever. And alcohol definitely makes going to clubs more fun. I'm not a club person, really, but alcohol helps a lot.

Clubs and I are
bad. Drunk people don't listen to me, and drunk me knocks over people who ignore me. So....I don't go clubbing anymore.

I like going to bars, but only if there's drinking involved. Otherwise I just sit there bored.
