Luckily i've never been in a plane that almost crashed, but when i went to jamica earlier this year, we were landing at Montego Bay. The runway started(or ended) at the sea, so as we desceded onto the runway we barely missed spalishing right into the sea, and there were people in the water and at the beach only a 100 yards away.

Yes she was a very pretty woman and only 22 years old, what a shame. For some reason I have never been afraid of flying despite all the plane crashes you hear about. If I was more ambitious I would probably become a test pilot or something similar. I like the feeling of speed and pure power. I figure that if I die in a plane crash oh well, at least some crap like cancer didn't get me. I've been skydiving and that was extremley fun, but I wish there was more speed involved..... :D

Vehemence's Random quote number 263:

I'm not afraid of dying. I'm afraid of not living.

:D I couldn't agree more :D Nonetheless, it's of course very sad that a young girls life is wasted in a plane crash. :(

So, just out of interest, how many other people who weren't a famous R&B star died in the same plane crash?

That's actually a really good point.

8 people was killed, I believe, most of them rather young. You know what the media is like, Georgi, a famous person's death is worth 1000 times the attention then the death of thousands of other people

Oh I know, I just thought I'd point it out  I think it's appalling.

Georgi i agree with you, but if i had said 8 people died in a plance crash in the carribien, would you have really been concerned?

@Sleep well I am not more concerned about it just because one of the people who died happened to be famous

I would have thought that this recent aeroplane crash was a Lear Jet, one of those planes that people with money get, and the suddenly think they can fly, it just because they are rich.

Georgi has a point, the media only talks about her. Eight people died, why not give them the same respect. I don't care if the person took care of her antfarm. That person, still died in the crash too.

Ehtehteh, and they are right! Rich people can do and buy anything they want..."You can't arrest me, I'm rich!"
"With money we can buy lots of useful things, like love!"

Just goes to show that however famous you are, when your plane takes a tumble, you're all in for it.

BTW keep your fingers crossed for me later. :D

Perhaps the moral of the story is:

Never travel with famous people. ;) :D

Good luck on your flight Vix :)

Thank you. Unfortunately its not with Qantas, sorry skippyair. I don't really get why they have a kangaroo on the tales of their planes- kangaroos bounce, planes don't.

Recent stories on this event make claim the plane was overloaded. It certainly doesn't make the event any less tragic, however, it makes you wonder how an overloaded plane gets cleared for takeoff or I am just being naive.
