If you want the old cloak back simply remove the file "clck26.itm" from the override folder.

To PerAspera:

Are you sure that will work? Would not removing "clck26.itm" from the override folder get rid of the cloak permanently?

What does the new cloak of mirroring do? Why does everyone hate it so much? I know they changed the graphic for it but how did they change its abilities?

Lorsadan: Removing the file from the Override folder only means that the game will use the preset setting for that file. The Cloak of Mirroring is avaible in SoA and there was no such file in the Override directory.

GrimReaper: They changed the Reflect ability to Absorb. So the spells are just absorded by the cloak, and not reflected back towards the enemy. Personally, I prefer this more than the reflect option.

To TheDude:

You are welcome, By the way, are you still in chapter two with your ranger/cleric. And will you just be soloing through shadows of amn with that character, or will you bring a party to TOB with items?

Thanks Sabre:

I suspected as much, but I just want to make sure, Now that we know it can be done, the question is should we do it?
Since the programers for Tob changed it because they felt that the original cloak of mirroring that reflects damaging spells back at enemy spellcasters is too powerful.

Kayless what do you think? Or anyone else for that issue?

I like the idea of absorb instead of reflecting spells, kind of like spell traps. But I don't like the new animation they give it, which is actually the spell trap one. I wouldn't mind editing it so it looks like it did in SoA, but still only absorb spells.

Good point Sabre, perhaps someone can also modify the graphics for the spell for spelltrap while they are at it.

I'm trying to change the SoA version of the Cloak of Mirroring (haven't got ToB yet), but it doesn't seems to be working. Still trying to find the actual animation that the Cloak use, when I find it, I'll try changing the Spell Trap spell to that one. Is this only for the spell or the one from the Staff of the Magi as well?

Hopefully if you are able to change the graphics for the Spell Trap spell, then the activation of spell trap with the staff of the magi would contain this change... but you probably know more about that then I would.

There are several spells in the game that uses the spell trap animation. But if you want to change them you have to edit each of those spells separately; since the animation is a 'Lightning effect' which the spell call up - so to speak. I'll see what I can do.

Hmmm...Do you mean you have to go to each individual spell and item part to change the spell graphics displayed if you want to change it?
By the way, I hope any changes would not cause any bugs to spring up in Tob game. (takeing into consideration that Kevin's baldurdash patches did not work well with Tob installed based on previous posts).
But Sabre I appreciate you looking into it, and don't sweat it if it doesn't work.

Yep, exactly what it mean, so there are going to be a lot of files that will need to be edited.

I'm pretty sure they won't cause any problem, but I'm currently using SoA files, so they might. When - and if - I figure out how to change the animation, I'll ask for the ToB version of the files from people who have it and edit those one.

It doesn't look like there's a solution so far, I found that the Spell Turning spell have the animation of the SoA Cloak of Mirroring. But when I check the Lightning effect, it's the same as the Lightning effect of Spell Trap. Yet the two spells gives you different animations. I'll keep looking and see if anything else come up.

According to the official website, any items you carry in SoA will be transferred to ToB. For me that's what exactly happenned as well as bonus items.

I also started a new quest straight from ToB and you don't get nearly the stuff that you would import from SoA. My recommendation is to import parties....but then again you get some pretty good items early on in the game too.

Anyone knows what items you get if you start a new ToB game?

For the cloak if you wanted to keep the absorb ability but edit the graphic you could edit the old cloak and just change the abilities to those of the new cloak. That should work right and you don't have to find and change any graphics.

yes i'm still in chap 2.
i'm now in the Planar Sphere, i'm just waiting until i get all the quests from my ranger stronghold.
I want that MoonHound figure before i get in spellhold and underdark.
I was just planning on taking only my ranger/cleric to ToB equiped with FoA, Crom, Boots of Speed, Helm of Balduran and ring of Gaxx .
is that possible???
are there boots of speed in ToB or a helm of Balduran??

Does anyone pay attention to me around here? Geez! My last post said that you will retain all your equipment from the previous SoA. That means EVERYTHING!!!

As for starting a new game in ToB, I have done that also. Your main character gets some nice weapons, (The war hammer component of Crom Faer, boots of speed, ring of protection, some extra healing potions, frost giant potions, Some gridle of strength, A few specific magical weapons from SoA, though nothing major, and of course, generic magical weapons. All of your summoned NPC will be equiped with what they had when you first encounter them in SoA.

In other words, if you want some cool magical weapons from SoA. Make sure you have the components, have forged them, or have them in your inventory in order to have them in ToB.
