FYI: When you hear him reference the thing in Chicago a while back, this is what he was talking about.

Victorian Age Vampire: By Philippe Boulle
Book 1 “A Morbid Initiation”, ISBN ?, loaned out-never returned-will replace. Good starter book for someone new to WOD, told from a Kine's (mortal) view entering Kindred society.
Book 2 “The Madness Of Priests”, ISBN 1-58846-829-1
Book 3 “The Wounded King”, ISBN 1-58846-858-5
FYI: You can read either series first, but I might suggest Victorian first.

Time Of Judgement:
Book 1 “Gehenna, The Final Night”, by Ari Marmell, ISBN 1-58846-855-0, he is the main character in this one.
FYI: Each TOJ book centered on a different facet of WOD, 1-Vampires, 2-Werewolves. 3-Mages. Smiling Jack also appears in this book. This book also deals with the Thin Blood increase in LA, and kinda makes a good extension for V:TM Bloodlines game, as it deals with some events that would happen after the end. (I may have to reread it myself!).

The guy with the cross who was ****ting himself was classic! Yes. Beckett here too, I believe. I can't get enough of that smooth sarcasm that sometimes comes from him.

I'd have to go for 'Gorgeous' Gary Golden in second. And of course, Jack in third.

I haven't beaten the game yet, fighting with Ming right now, but I just couldn't resist posting. This game is one of the best among the recent RPGs characterwise IMHO, so I have a biiig pile of chars I totally adore. Jack & Beckett of course... Yukie, that cute japanese girl from Chinatown... Glorious Gary... Mercurio... And Chunk!... Oh, it's really hard to choose just one! Though I don't understand what's so cool about Nines - yes, he's a nioce guy comparing with the rest of the 'leaders', but nothing too special...

Van Helsing Test, in the Labs? When you get cornered by the mortal and he forces you to go through a dozen different tests to see the best way to kill a vampire? The guy in the radiation suit who holds a cross out at you threateningly.. Thats th Van Helsing test.

And yeah, it was AWESOME walking casualy after that guy as he fled for his life, trapped in that room with me.

favourite chars? hmm...
1. Max Strauss, DEFINITELY. He's cunning, he knowshow to deal with Camarilla politics etc.
2.Velvet Valour. Got to love that woman, at least for her looks.
3.Becket. Yeah, cool guy. The intellectual type
4.Andrei. I really don't know why I like this one...

1.Damsel. reason: Communism
2.LaCroix. Cause he dishonours the whole Camarilla and tried to kill me several times.
3.Ming. Just who does she think she is?

My Favorites

1) Beckett: Definitely most sophisticated and cool guy in game. It is a joy for me even to listen him. Also he is a gangrel which is my favorite clan.

2) Gary: I like his sound a lot and way of talking. Always mysterious, always irritating.

3) The fortuneteller where Thin Bloods stay. In my second time playing I realized everything she said was correct and happened in the future.

4) Knox: I like him because he is very very happy because he is a ghoul. He is not trying to be cool and tells his excitement about being a ghoul. I wonder what would happen if he became a vampire?

5) And for the last one; the man in the Red Spot. But I am talking about the [removed] man who talks to himself by doing his shopping. He is so funny!

Favourite:
Grout. Every Malkavian is a walking nuthouse but the logical madness with which he focussed on his insanity. Jeez.
Runner ups:
Andrei. I remember the first time I went into that house of his. I thought I'd become imume to freaking out in a game but the first time one of hose all head things came at me I almost got a heart attack from just the seting in which it came bursting in.
Mr Ox, dunno why but he really made an impression.

My favorite was Jack. and my second was Caine.

Oh goodness, I just have to respond to this thread. My favorites are, in no particular order: Jack, the Voerman sisters, Velvet, Damsel, cabbie (or Caine), Nines, Mercurio, Yukkie, and Beckett. The reason I like these? Various, but both Voerman sisters, in their own way, look good, and are completely sane in a screwed up situation. If you want to know more, you can ask me. Velvet, well, the outfit, the skin color, etc., she looks damned good. Damsel, she's interesting, and actually has something to say, beyond the stuff she spouts. You just have to talk to her. Caine, who doesn't like him? Nines, he teaches you stuff that can be important, and also is a key figure in the story. Jack, he's not just funny, but also a big help. Mercurio is coll because he not only helps you out, but he also gives you some neat boom stick, when you need them, and they can be fun, too. As to Yukkie, who doesn't like a cute girl in a school girl's skirt, and can take on a mutant shark-dude? Beckett, because he's actually telling you more than anyone, aside from Jack, than anyone else in the game, to actually help you out, and to make it through the game.

Beckett is my most favourite character. Other favourites include Jack, Gary and Fat Larry.

Jack's easily my favourite, he owns. Other than him, I love Bach because he's so flamboyant, and Nines because well... he's just so disgustingly likeable!

Well, i like Velvet Volour or something jejejej, i ike her a lot, is very sexy and her voice...

For me..its Becket, Jack, Caine, Gary, Mitnick...And the Sherrif(altought his an enemy and the bodyguard of that idiot Lacroix)

Well, definitely hard to make a ranking here... so many of the characters were great.

NPC's who deserve a mention are:

1. Mr Ox. Don't know why, but his voice acting stands out even in a game full of brilliant voice acting. And he emanates an aura of almost tangible evil. Add to that the fact that it is never revealed what kind of creature he actually is...

2. Dr Grout. 'Nuff said.

3. Pisha. Because she represents the philosophical question connected with vampires better than the actual vampires: Are you necessarily evil just because of what you are? With vampires, it's easier to argue against this, as they don't have to kill to survive. With Pisha, it becomes significantly harder.

4. Gary - because you can really interprete a lot into his actions. He, too, has a great voice, and a great way of putting things (almost Malkavian-esque).
Oh, and if they ever make this game a movie, Christopher Walken would have to play him

Running the list

Nobody ever mentions the bartender in the Asylum.
(You) "I'm here about the part-time hostess position."
(Him) "I wish that was my job!"
The guy cracks me up.

But he's an honorable mention at best - supporting cast and all that.

It's a bit situational. For a full-on laugh riot, Fat Larry has it, hands down, but only if you're a Nossie. If you're Malkavian, then Skelter has the best reaction to your 'gift' (but Ming pulls a close second). In all other cases, pretty much a dead heat between Beckett and Damsel. Beckett because he's so blase and sardonic, and Damsel because she's so...well...Damsel. She couldn't get any more furious if her hair was on fire. They'd make a great couple. She'd never be able to get mad at him, and he wouldn't bother getting mad at her.

Grout is kind of cool in that, as an insane psychiatrist, he actually seems to realize that he's insane, but he thinks everybody else is moreso.

Bach, I love to hate. Smoking that self-righteous plonk is one of the most satisfying things in the game ('plonk' incidentally, being the noise someone makes when they hit the bottom of your kill-file), but the Mandarin pulls a very close second - how one person can get so on your very last nerve so fast is almost astonishing. I actually like killing Bach, but I get eager to kill the Mandarin - really fast - if for no better reason than just to make sure nothing else comes out of his pie-hole.

Mr. Ox is probably the most understated character in the game, and I'd be willing to bet the most dangerous ("I have things that many would find cruel but weapons? Noooo."). Anybody who can say something like that with a perfectly straight face bears watching, the implication being that what he has is so much more effective, what would he need mere weapons for?

I like Tseng, not so much for what he says, as for what you get to say to him ("I need a remedy. Something in a large caliber, maybe.").

The tweaker in the Red Spot is kinda funny, but the counter guy is a hoot ("This isn't going to turn out to be something ironic, is it?").

For the rest? Jack and Nines are too earnest. LaCroix is a political animal, so I despise him almost reflexively. VV gets snotty if you don't rub her the right way. Someone actually used Seduction on Chunk? Bold. Crazy, but bold. Any mind that can make the cognitive leap from singed vampire flesh to a space burger that fast is just damned scary. Ming practically sweats insincerity, just as she exhales superiority - she's as much a political animal as LaCriox, but she covers it better by being a snake (or a large tentacled cephalopod, as the case may be...). Yukie is way too old for her age - the image of a child who never was.

The Voermann sister, oddly enough, makes perfect sense to me, as do most of the rest. They are unremarkable in virtually every respect. And yes, that does include the guy who sawed his own arm off. They're just fairly typical folks who exist in their world in the way one would expect them to, and vampiric overtones aside, could be just about anybody you see walking down the street.

I do, however, agree that the characterizations were remarkably well-done. It's a shame we'll never get to see what the creative powers behind VTMB actually had inside their collective heads. I would have paid very well to see that.

Oh dear, fav characters in the game ... In no particular order.

Mitnick (he's just a total geek), Julius (I'm never able to kill him), Strauss (because he's the sane one in all this), Yukkie (because she reminds me of Yuffie Kisaragi) & Nines (because my big bro, whom I love to death, is just like him)
