ok
but i started the game with a Ranger and it will soon be dualed to a cleric ad lvl 10 i think.
here are mine stats (i like them really i do

)
str.18/74
dex.18
con.18
int.10
wis.18
cha.5 (no problem with the ring)
i started with 96 hitpoints 76 stealth oh and my racial enemy are vampires.
without the really good items (i just finished chap 1) my char already has a AC of -3 (that
is good right? or does i happen to everybody??)
so does anyone have any advice about how to play, i don't want to play solo i want a party with all the char i didn't play with before:
me
Haer'dallis
Cernd
Vicona
Jan
and Korgan or Edwin, but i'm not sure what to pick, but i think i need another fighter.
tips, advices, tactics will be usefull
thnx TheDude

Several points:
1) The ranger dualled to cleric is considerably better than the half-elf ranger/cleric multi-class.
2) If you start out as a ranger and dual to cleric, then you will get druid spells at the same rate and at the same level as you get cleric spells.
3) The best level to dual from ranger to cleric is Level 9. That gives you the full fighter base HP, gets you triple backstab if you are a stalker, and allows you to reach Level 19 cleric. If you dual at level 10 instead, then you only get to Level 18 cleric, which makes a substantial difference because there is a dropoff of 2 THACO between level 18 and level 19 cleric.

I was definitely wrong. Since ranger in my test game was still inactive, druid's spells should appear only after ranger class would become active, of course. As it happens, there *are* druid spells available.
Begging pardon,

Dude,
You have the right stats, maxing out on all the important ones. Regarding your NPC allies, definitely choose Korgan. That will give you Korgan + Ranger-Cleric on the frontline, Cernd and Viconia in the middle as backup fighters and clerics, your two mages in back, with Haer Daelis serving rear guard.

here is a question:
is it good to have 2 clerics in your party
i mean i play ranger cleric and i got vicona and i want to get Cernd too don't i have to must priest spells that way???

IMHO there are really too many clerics in your party - maybe you should consider kicking Cernd (I assume that Viconia is your PC's romance interest) for some mage - Edwin, Imoen, jan Jansen, you could also try some of mine NPCs.

Thedude,
I agree with Manveru I think it would be wise to dump Cernd. Druids are probaly going to be pretty good in Tob, but he sucks in BG2. Hear´Dalis is great you should really try him (read the post is Hear´Dalis worth having).
You need a thief in your team jan is a pretty good one and edwin a great mage.
Well you have really much mage power in your team but it is not a disatvantage.
But you can also drop Korgan, because when Hear´Dalis can cast tensers transformation he becomes a great fighter.
AC might be a problem but bladesinger chain and ring of gaxx make him beter. (you can also give him the ring of free action (riverwinds idea) so he can move in defensive spin and your armor class becomes great, about -15).
And a personal choise of me s no fighters in my team, because bards become great fighters wenn they have to, the game is way cooler without fighters (personal experience).
So i think you should dump Cernd or korgan, But I think it should be Cernd because you have enough cleric powers.
Craig,
if you want to know witch the best race for cleric it is a dwarven priest of Talos or helm.
Talos, better spell book with lightning bolt and storm schield (no holy smite only unholy blight).
Helm, seeking sword (+4 weapon and 3 attcks per round) and holy smite and unholy blight.

I'm playing a single player SoA game with a multi-class cleric/ranger as my PC.
Much to my dismay, I found that the multi-class cleric/ranger can't get three stars in two weapon style, unlike the dual-classed ranger/cleric. However, I think I'll enjoy having the high level abilities of both classes in ToB. Also, I like the fact that my THACO will keep on getting lower as I advance in my ranger class, which I think will offset the fact that my off-hand won't be as strong as that of a dual-classed ranger/cleric.
I'm using the FoA in my srong hand, and will use the Crom Faeyr in my off-hand when I get all the components (right now using Hammer of Thunderbolts).
By the way, I found that the cleric stronghold wasn't available to me, that the ranger stronghold was my only choice.

Thanks for bringing this one back up, Crassus. I sure got an answer to my question!!!
I think the stronghold you get is the first one you go for. If you want, we can fix you up with a patch... <cracks evil grin and opens left panel of trenchcoat>

here is my two cents...
oh crap, here comes the much debated dual or multi rant from userunfriendly....
multis are way more powerful if you have or plan to get tob....two pools of picks, even the ranger pick is very powerful. ther ranger picks are the warrior picks...
hardiness, maybe, I wouldn't get it, tho,
critical strike, with bows you become a death sniper, and
greater whirlwind.
do you get the druid picks or cleric picks? if druid you are set...but if cleric, stll in really great shape....

Hey there.. just for the record.. i love both the ranger and clerc classes.
Anyway, I think multi classing is better, in the long run. I mean, with the constant Thaco drop and the GW in ToB, it is worth it.
Regarding the question of who to drop, I'd say Cernd. i actually had a group much similar to yours (Korgan, Edwin, Haer Dalis, Viccy, Cernd and my Swashbuckler).. and trust me, you need ALL the fighters you can get!!! I mainly used Korgy and Swashbuckler as my main fighters... while Cernd initially was just plain crappy (it was only when he was in Elemental Shapeshift he was "partially" good.. and even then, Viccy outbeat him anyday).
OR, if you really need another "Cleric/Healer" in your party, drop Haer Dalis, as you've got already Edwin and Jan in your Mage department. Haer Dalis can only reach Level 6 spells.. and about 6 spells per level. I mean, my best spell for HD is.. er... Breach?!?! haha.. and Tensers, of course. Haer Dalis is good initially, with his initial good Thaco.. but eventually, his AC will give away (-10 doesnt cut it any more in ToB) and his Thaco maintained at.. er.. 3 or something.
