I mean compared with Jaheira.
She can be fighter and spellcaster at the same time, can be tanked and raise dead,
and finally can also be loved!
Enjoy your game.

Yes, she can wear any armour in the game.
In my actual she wears the plate of Balduran (-1AC), dragon helm (elemental protection), shields (varies), harper pin, ring of fire resistance and some others goodies.
She has -10 AC and lots of elemental protection.
She is a great front liner with good spellcasting&healing.

Agreed, Jaheira makes a fine tank. However, Cernd gets more spells and he'll get all those high level spells much earlier.
I am.

True. But for a first run-through, Jaheira is an easier character strategically to play. The first thing Jaheira has that Cernd does not is the ability to ressurect (because she's a Harper). The question always arises: fine, I've got a resurrecting cleric, but who resurrects the resurrector when s/he dies? And when multiple characters die, two rezzers can split the task. (True, there's an item which can deal with this, but I prefer saving the ressurection rod for really tough tasks--like most of my part dying, including my rezzers.)
Then, there's the problem of Cernd's effective fighting skills, which appear only when he's in animal morph; and he can't cast until he returns to human form. This creates a dilemna in battles where timing is important.
So you see three enemy mages in a backrow, all incanting their spells. Jaheira has just been double-teaming with Jan on a melee foe. She steps away quickly, and casts Insect Plague, one of the most beautiful spells in the game, disabling all three mages at once. She's attacked immediately after by a warrior, but has sufficient fighting skills to avoid damage.
Now, Cernd is double-teaming that same warrior with Jan, and sees the mages begin to cast. He has to change from a werewolf or greater werewolf to human, and that takes a round. By the time he's been able to get off that Insect Plague, each of the three mages has gotten off a spell which may well turn the tide of battle. And to top it off, a warrior takes a shot at him and Cernd, having poor physical stats as a human and very poor armor, loses one of his legs and all of his lunch.
I'm not saying don't run Cernd. I'm currently doing just that. But he's a challenge, and I'd only suggest him to a person familiar with the game. Like Haer'dalis, he requires some ingenuity and familiarity to become effective.

dump minsc. if you want power gaming, jahiera and aerie are absolute killers. first, understand aerie is NOT a cleric or mage, she is actually a sorta super Macro gizmo. use her to cast very nasty, undead targetting and demon killers very fast. think spell trigger bolts of glory and chian contignecncy sunrays and false dawns and chain implosion, my fav dragon killer. New evil aerie trick....give up ONE precious level 9 slot in mage spells for greater acuity. cast once aday for aura cleaning, and your chian contingency spell will ZOOM and activate wicked faaaast!! I have noticed 40% increase in set spell triggers with daily aura cleansing.
hold on to your chain and trigger spell scrolls once youve got a bunch, try having jaheira use the swap potions trick to cast. I think it will work, despite some previous posts I got minsc to cast stone skin. now think triple chain natures beauty!! the best reasons for jahiera is
natures beauty and creeping dooom.
dont forget
aura of flaming death, greater elemental transform and whirlwind. I am not impressed by elemental princes, they are vulnerable to fear effects, whereas planetaars are vulnerable to stun, so really, just a matter of pre buff stage. but really, planetars are more capable, they can duplicate chans globe and vorpal effects can kill trolls and other fire vunerable creatures just as well as prince of fire. seems fire vulnerables are all subseptable to save vs death attacks, and the plaetar has +3 vorpal silver sword.
but all 3 multis, not duals, are rediculously over powerful. you can have yourself, aerie and jahiera and jan in a 4 person party, seriously good fast level ups, especially at watchers keep, and get to demi god status FAST!

If there be any doubt, Aerie is a multiclass Mage/Cleric. Except for the fact that this class isn't normally available to elves, there is nothing special about it.

I thought Aerie was limited to levels 6/6, even with ToB? I haven't run her through ToB yet, so I don't know, but if that's as far as she can get, she'd been pretty limited once you move beyond SoA.

Aerie is Avariel, a species of Winged Elf that is indeed allowed to take on the Mage/Cleric Multiclass otherwise limited to Half-Elves if I remember correctly.
She is most definitely not limited in levels, I had her in a ToB game and she was an absolute terror as a spell user, especially with the ability to sequence/chain/trigger spells of either class.
I never thought to do a triple Implosion; rest assured that won't happen again.
The only problems I have with her are two-fold:
1) She is a such a whiner!
2) Low CON
Her spell casting is amazing however.
Just my $0.02.

Available to gnomes as well (Cleric/Illusionist).

To the original author: Ditch Minsc. Since you are already a Ranger, you dont need another. Although Minsc does provide the comic relief, you've got Keldorn as a heavy fighter. And your ranger (what kit?) is a good melee fighter too.
You might also want to get rid of Nalia for Jan, who is a much better mage AND thief!
I think the next time I play, I wanna add Nalia to my team. I never seem to take her along.. something about her being to weak.. hehe
To Fable: Dont worry.. Cernd IS good.. well, in ToB he is, once he great Great Earth Elemental.

Haer'Dalis owns quite nicely with Melodic chain and Bladesinger Chain +5.
He can cast all his wizard spells in those armours, making him a true tank-mage, I love having him rip people up with the equalizer and angurdival +5, then breach that mage who just contingincied a stoneskin/mantle.

Nalia behaves kinda strangely in TOB.
