Ooooooohhh!! :o ;) I see. :) Glad to hear you are there. :)

As for paladins - well, I'll go along with it, but I don't like it. Sounds kinda capricious to just pick and choose the rules you want to adhere to ... maybe I'll start a thread over there asking for a logical argument against the class.

Are there any other banned classes?

No other banned classes. Most changes to class in Argyle are to make the experience more like 3rd edition. There are two main exceptions.

The first is the paladin - the developers don't like the class - it does not fit in with the Argyle campaign setting. I also think the detect evil thing is ridiculous - but thats me.

The second is there are no Drow in Argyle - again - the campaign world does not include drow.

There are many modifications to NWN rules for instance:
- familiars are toned down - the panther is a normal cat for instance.
- Druid and ranger companions - when they are killed - cannot be respawned for some time.
- Rest times are much longer - no more popping a squat to replenish your spells in three seconds. Also - you can only rest once every 8 in game hours.
- Traps are not implemented - too powerful in NWN - also the DMG says they take days to set up - hence it would be impossible for a rogue to set a trap in 10 seconds.

The other main thing to get used to is "Mage Hate". Read up on the lore - but basically very few people trust any arcane magic - and most will actually react violently to the use of arcane magic - this makes it tough for socrerers and wizards - but adds great flavor to the roleplaying.

I would add that the hak pak makes hundreds of changes to NWN - especially in the scripting area - monsters are more aware and act more agressive. Loot makes more sense - monsters drop what they carry. There are lots of changes - 99% of them for the better IMHO. :)

Personally, I DM over there, and I'm not sure that Paladin's aren't allowed. Actually, I think they are, for the time being, until the holy warrior can be implemented.

I'll find out and get back to you on that one.

And trust me, the SOS crew (the ones who write Argyle) aren't just picking and choosing. As Argyle as a different campaign, it will have certain rulings different from the Player Hand Books.

But I've read the write-up for Holy Warriors, and it's some excellent stuff. We at Argyle Online are wondering how we'll be able to implement it.

@average joe: I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, or making a fuss or anything. :o I think Argyle is being run by some great people (yourself included) with some great ideas. I just like paladins, so it is a bit of a disappointment to hear they may not be allowed.

This "Holy Warrior" you speak of - is that like a prestige class or some such? I don't keep up with all the DnD stuff anymore. I bought the new 3E players handbook when NWN came out, but before that it had been years and years and years since I had touched that stuff.

And, uh, should I be asking these questions over at the Argyle forum? :o

Peace.

Asking questions about Argyle will always get more responses if asked on Argyle. :)

So, it would probably be a good idea.

And Holy Warriors will be a prestige class, exclusive to Argyle, created by SOS. I'm not at liberty to give more info than that.
