Cool thread Tybaltus

*Interesting name also*
My opinion of the worst show or series,
Big Brother. With the exception of The Osbournes I absoluty loathe the reality TV genre. If I want to see a bunch of people attempt to act, I'll go down to watch the street buskers in the city or see a school play. But blasting it all over the stations, on the radio and even paying for ads in the newspapers really got on my nerves.
Big Brother, I hate it.

@Tammy you took the words right out of my mouth
I have to add Popstars, Pop Idol, and the soon-to-be cross between the latter shows and Big Brother - Fame Academy... No, I haven't seen it yet, but it
will be terrible...

Remember people of the US...these people who go to see thess programs in person...vote in the US.
Yeah I've though of that - scary
I've seen 1 Jerry Springer, perhaps 5 Ricki Lake and one similar with a blond middle aged women as talk show leader. The shows were about revealing to a guy that his girlfriend was a prosititute, revealing to your partner that you are cheating / with his/her best friend, mother, etc. Revealing to your partner/family that you are a closet homosexual/transvestite/whatever.
What is entertaining with these highly loaded situations, constructed to get people as emotional as possible? What is a person that watch these shows like? And a person who participates?
Big Brother is here to, and other reality TV. Haven't actually seen it, only heard about it, but it sounds so slow and boring? If you want to watch reality, isn't it better to just go out than to watch it on TV?

Or maybe I just have outdated ideas about things...
In Sweden, the major issues in Big Brother seemed to be people's sex life (obviously the participants stuck in the house had sex lives, so every now and then humping under covers could be seen) and conflicts resulting in people crying and shouting. Sounds very entertaining.

I never denied it.

But if you really want to see my age, when I was a small toddler (for a slumming Babylonian god), I can still recall watching (while it was new) the Abbott and Costello Show. It was preceded by the Bob Crosby Show. This was about 1954-5.

@Tamerlane, Thank you. Youre the first person to ever comment on my name.
I have to agree about Star Trek. I never liked any series that came out of Star Trek-Original, Next Generation, whatever. They are all boring to me. The only good episode to come out of any series was "Trouble with Tribbles". That was a good episode.
A couple other things to put onto my list:
Hollywood Squares: A bad gameshow. The stars tried to be funny sometimes, most of the time they werent. Also if the stars didnt get the questions before hand, and had to come up with a joke on the spot, I would have had more respect for the show.
Spongebob Squarepants: Can someone please tell me how a talking square sponge can become so blasted popular?! It looks so stupid, yet I see murchandice for it all over the place and advertisements about it everywhere. I just dont understand.

I am not a Star Trek fan, and I have only seen a few episodes, but actually don't at all found them as bad as soaps in 3482 parts and "Temptation island - this week: watch Peter's is in agony while he watches the videotape of his girlfriend Liza making out with handsome James. "

While Tammy is right in that Big Brother is quite terrible, my vote goes to The Wonder Years. Don't ask me why but that show really annoys me, especially the kid.
I stopped watching TV a few years back, it's gotten so boring.

Btw, welcome here Tybaltus - hope you will enjoy SYM
I like your name, although I'm not familiar with it - only sounds like a Latinisation of Tybalt, Juliet Capulet's cousin, to me.
@Ode: What is so bad with The wonder years? What is it? I'm not familar with it.

@ C Elegans-Thanks. I have enjoyed SYM so far. You pretty much hit the nail on the head with my name. I came up with the name for the leader of a Civilization II game, I liked the sound of it, and since then, I have used it for my alias.
You know, Ive never watched Big Brother. So I really dont have an opinion about it.
As time goes on, I am thinking of more really bad tv shows that I have seen at one time or another.

It's late and I can't be bothered ranting about that awfully cheesy show. Tomorrow, dear CE, tomorrow you shall have your answers.
'Tis but a day away.

I try to avoid shows where the only time a kid actualy makes some insight, it's when he's talking to himself...

It's definitely Family Feud, what an idiotic idea! The host is basically dead while the competing families just do nothing but poke fun at each other.

Bill and Ben the Flower Pot Men....need i go on, actually there are many other shows of this Ilk that i can mention, but this is a good example. One question on the subject of Bill and Ben, how gay were they?

I kind of liked the family feud. Not the best gameshow, though.
One sitcom that everyone seemed to like, but I despised was Seinfeld. I hated that show. It wasnt funny at all.

Other than Kramor...I hated Sienfeld too.
As far as Jerry Springer....If I got a call and they said "Hey! we want you and your wife to come on the show!"...I'd just file for a divorce and ask NO questions!

Here is where you ran astray.....there is no understanding a Squarepants.
His popularity comes from the knowlegde that even a lowly little sponge can make it in the big world of business.
Here is the page instead.
