I'm sorry to hear that, WK
I had a very happy and stable childhood with extremely supportive and friendly parents. I was never beaten as a child, although my parents were certainly no hippies, rather they were quite strict. I used to be grounded a lot - well, there were always windows. Also, they disapproved of certain clothes I wanted to wear - so I hid them in the cellar, picked them up before I left home and went out the back door. When I came home, I put it back in the cellar, changed, and appeared before my parents as the nice girls they wanted me to be but I never was
The only physical violence I have experienced was
1. When a gang of 5-6 guys jumped me and a female friend when we were about 14 - we never understood why since we had never seen those guys before, but nothing serious happened, just a few bruises.
2. When a total stranger suddenly pushed me down a fling of stairs in the underground and then hunted me around the central station while screaming he would get me for "what I did to his friend". He must have confused me with somebody else.

I can not imagine that placid a life, it is beyond my comprehension. But stop the damn "

"s, I didn't post that for pity, I posted it because it needed to be posted--- the original post I thought was mind-numbingly self-indulgent yet amusing.

I did not intend to sound self indulgant. I am well aware that it does not summarise all that is childhood. I am also well aware of some of the darker sides of human nature but *shrugs* I had hoped that perhaps - just perhaps - it might have brought one or two fonder memories of some of the magic that can be childhood..

if that is mind numbing, I apologise.

@Yshania Even though you are a D' Flamer, (plus you did help me out of a bind) I will say, never, ever apologise to Foul!!

Well i can't remember very much at all of my childhood, the only things i recall are from photo's that were taken at that time; they help me remember the experience or the feeling, not actual events. So this didn't exactly apply to myself anyway.....i say blame consumerism culture and the Idiot Box for my useless memory...

LOL!

despite all those things?

I did not want to be unnecessarily sympathetic, or mind numbing or self indulgant. Not in public anyway
I got you out of a fix? should we be discussing this in public?

I won't ask why you believe you are odd, and neither will I apologise, then, for apologising

the problem with tiptoeing through thorns, is they have a tendency to bite back. I would prescribe a sturdy pair of 16 hole DMs!

Well since my eyes are now fixed, I need to find a good band and a willing partner to accompany
You should see the scars on the biking leather too!

I would "

" anyone who had an abusive childhood, regardless of whether the person feel anything about it themselves or not. So don't take it personal

@ Ysh

Just say the word and we'll find the right band
