Nippy, how they pick teams is a mystery to everyone but the selection committee
Seriously, the top schools in the country are split into various leagues depending on geographic location, school population etc.
Most of these leagues have a championship tournament. Those winners are automatically sent to the playoffs. Other schools are picked by various criteria; strength of schedule, wins and quality of play. The selection committee then takes the 64 chosen teams and seeds them according to some arcane formula and places them in one of 4 regions. Each region plays off in single game elimination until they have the"final 4"
I hope that helped
So basically they just match teams on strength and let them duke it out? Seems pretty fair to me...

Lucky you BS

My 'Cats are squeaking by
Nippy it seems that way but there's always teams that should have made it in and some that people can't figure out

Oh well I guess it gives everyone something to talk about

I have it on good authority that the AZ Wildcats will *probably* beat OK tomorrow.

betting on experience vs. talent Crosby...uh, I mean Gwally?

Alas, I missed out on the office pool, so no betting for me!

It was just an expression. Why do think Arizona's experience will be out the athletics of Okie?

The Zona team isn't all that experienced. We lost too many people. Olson is a very experienced coach for guiding teams into the playoffs and he'll do his best to have them ready. gardner and Walton are the only two upperclassmen with significant playoff time.

Our office manager is an avid fan. I don't pay any attention to the Wildcats, except when talking about them makes her happy. She is going to make us all wear red tomorrow. We will, too, because we're all scared of her.....

LOL Gwally, it becomes similar to a religion here

Even my stuffy hospital allows Wildcat gear

Update: she says that AZ and OK are evenly matched except for the revenge factor: OK beat AZ last time around. Therefore AZ will 'bear down'!

They are pretty even, Az needs to play a good game, none of this standing around the first half

By experience, I did mean Lute specifically. No matter how first and second exits he makes, he always gets back the next year. smilie; forgot to put it in before moving on. Let the record show my good natured sarcasm and jostling (boy, I wished I just remembered the damn smilie)
Note: i brought a shield with me
Note: Props to Lute for lots of success in recent years. A title four years ago and a championship appearance last year or two years ago. How soon we forget.

Our office manager is never wrong. If she is, we don't point it out. We've lost more people that way....

I took it as a friendly discussion Ned

I was just unclear as to who you meant by experience since our players aren't
And a style that's fairly low key

T,
your new avatar is way better than Taz, but not as good as the pink panther. variety is good though. I'm kinda locked down on the avatar thing so I change me sig. often.
No worries on the AZ discussion, I wasn't very clear. It should be a good game. I will watch it unbiased even though I picked OK on my sheet. I never let the office pool dictate my passion for watching the NCAA march madness tourney. The only sporting events better are the olympics and the world cup.

Ned, Thanks about the avatar

I was going to have a frowning Daphne, but I already snarled as Taz

(not at you )
The tournament is always great

Seeing the experts overthrown and hard work paying off for these guys is great

At least Duke got beat too!
Another tournament another early exit
Oh well, my 'cats did better than I expected, and better than all the experts predictions.
