Heh, you don't have an "ö" for Björk. :D I think she is one of the few pop musicians who really does something innovative. I also like her lyrics. :)

Miles Davis is a great musician, I think no other jazz musician has managed to follow the development of music like he has. I like both his older and more recent stuff.

1)Radiohead yeah **** I know it's a bit cliched and cheap but I'm from oxford so I'm allowed to like oxford bands no matter how big they get

2)DJ Shadow Entroducing...need I go on?

3)Mr Scruff wow maybe me and Robnark can start up a clandestine tavern of SYM ninjatuners

this is just my current taste although I'm also a fan of oldish skool hiphop....Public Enemy, Run DMC etc and other ninja tune stuff apart from what I said above...roots manuva....ever seen him live anyone? but also more mainstream rock...MUSE, Soulwax, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, SFA.....yeah I am also a Portishead fan....Bjork, umm well. Vespertine is a work of genius no doubt, but I dunno if this is just a passing faze...I don't know if she is always becoming better and bettr, so her next album will be amazing, or if she is just changing, so her next album could be awful...oh yeah, and the Rolling Stones.

if we can get Minerva etc in here then maybe someone can correlate Musical taste, Religion, Gaming habits and Spamming tendencies to find out a formula for the archetypal SYMmian's personality...

@frogus: All hail to the almighty ninja tune! Mr Scruff only dropped off my list cos his album was a tad uneventful towards the middle, but a damn fine artiste nonetheless. i heartily approve.

LOL :D Well, I understand the poor thing, wasn't that right after this crazy fan had blown himself up outside her house in London?

@Frogus: I also like old skool hiphop, although I'm almost old enough to be your mother :D ;)

Ak! too scary and too big a job! ;) besides - it would undoubtably be inconclusive anyway! :)

Mmm, I'm not sure if there is the archetypical SYMmians. The best part of the SYM is that most of us are so different, I think.

Anyway, I can't pick three from any. I couldn't even pick 20 favourite classical music pieces before...

The stuff I posted is just my 3 of my favourite artistes currently... and it was a struggle choosing them ;) My CD collection does cover a fairly broad spectrum :)

I'll say! Wow, there are actually some people other than Sleepy around now who've heard of British bands... :D

Dance/Club, Any DJ'll do!
Well, they all sound the same, after all :p
(I mean all the rubbish that's in the charts usually, I admit there is some good dance music)

Heh, I saw Run DMC at Reading Festival last year  I like Bjork (don't have Vespertine though - Debut is a good album), she gets bonus points for being completely insane :D but minus points for making Dancer in the Dark...

Am I the only Nick Cave fan at SYM???

I also like the Swans, Tindersticks and PJ Harvey. Plus, how could I forget my old friends from Austin, the Butthole Surfers and Scratch Acid?

Tough choice ...

1: The Kinks (and/or Ray Davies solo).
2: Beethoven.
3: David Byrne (and/or The Talking Heads).

@Voodoodali: I used to listen to a lot of Nick Cave, but he kinda scares me now - must be getting old. Have you ever heard of Crime and the City Solution? Mick Harvey from The Bad Seeds was in that band, and it put out a few really good albums.

EDIT: I like PJ Harvey, too.

I saw her at a festival last year. She was amazing, even though she wasn't on the main stage.

No, I like Nick Cave... But if I was saying "Me too" to everyone who mentioned a band I like, I'd be here all day... :D

I would assume also, unless I made wrong turn going to the festival and ended up in England. I doubt it though. :D

She sure as hell surprised me as I didn't know exactly what to expect. Can now call myself a fan.

Seems unlikely, but you never know... :D

Oh, I knew she was good before ;) Do you have Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea? It's a great album :)

I haven't bought an album since the Smashing Pumpkins Greatest Hits, and since then I've had to contend with uni fee's and an ever-expanding booklist. Plus I've got to get a another guitar sometime soon, but I'll put it on my list.

Stories from the city and stories from the sea, is that one album?
