Sleep deprivation is not good for your health! Single occations is not dangerous, but over time, it has a negative effect on several different systems in your body, for instance the immune system.

Armadin, do you want to sleep or is this some kind of testing of yourself?

I know what it's like, in periods when I work a lot and feel really excited about new projects, I can't sleep either. It was much worse when I was younger, I suffered from insomnia during most of my teenage period. Later, I learnt to fall asleep by doing certain things. It might not work for you, but I tell you what works for me, anyway:

1. Eat a lot, heavy food like read meat or other food with a lot of proteins and fat. Have a glass of wine of a couple of beers if you drink alcohol.
2. Don't do anything exciting or fun. Try to keep your senses low on stimulation, when you have been awake for several days your body is in a alarm state and the senses are quite vigilant even if you feel very tired. Stick to slow, dull activities like easy reading or watching an uninteresting TV program.
3. Don't move around a lot physically. You don't want to have a high physical arousal level, so keep your physical activity low. If your body is tense, take a bath or a warm shower.
4. Have sex. Sexual satisfaction triggers a lot of hormones that make you more inclined to sleep.
5. Lie down and try to do relaxing mind exercises if you know any.

I have been there too.

I would suggest stay away from the tv/pc (!!!). Lie down and read a book...

@Xandax "exciting economic history textbook" is an oxymoron, at least based on the ones I have had to read ;)

@Armadin, If push comes to shove you can always see a physician for some kind of sedative. They'll probably charge an arm and a leg but at least you'll be sleeping again.
