How many of us had a DWI that magically disappeared?

How many of us can pronounce simple words easily?

How many of us avoided service in Vietnam by joining the Air Nationbal Gaurd (and then didn't show up for half the assignments)?

Oh yes... And how many of us had the advantage of having a rich oil tycoon as a father who happened to be a very powerful Senator and President?

I don't believe any of the above questions "prove" G.W. Bush's intellegence, rather they show what is available to those born into a position of priviledge.

I'm not saying G. W. is a bad person, I believe he does what he thinks is right. Nor am I saying he is a bad leader, leadership is about Charisma and Wisdom, not necissarily Intellegence ;) . But to suggest Dubya is an "intellegent" person severly distorts some very obvious evidence to the contrary...

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Hey, it wasn't Dubya's fault he was born into a wealthy, politically connected family. Nature cannot choose it's origin. Besides, being the son of his father, Dubya inherited half of his friends AND all of his enemies. Concerning his intelligence, I think you guys are falling into the same pitfall as the Democrats by underestimating his politically shrewdness. Congress has already voted to pass the trillion plus tax cut he pledged during his campaign, a proposal worthy of Ronald Reagan. Besides, didn't he already demonstrate his intelligence by whipping Al Gore in last year's Presidential debates. What more will it take to please his critics?

To the extent that we ARE fond of him it's because in BG2 we are amused by all the weird stuff the NPCs say, and then after playing we go out into the real world and listen to W - and it's pretty much the same thing! You love W in the same way that you love Minsc - he's a source of constant amusement. :D

Alaska is the largest state in the union, not Texas (I should know, I live in Alaska) That being said, I agree with you EMINEM about Bush not being stupid (he's not a genius either, more of an average sort of guy). Let me say up front that politics is not the best topic for discussion on a gaming board (at least not on the BG2 board. SYM is more appropriate). Secondly, let’s lay off Bush. To paraphrase the West Wing: “Whatever regard you may hold me in, remember that you are addressing the office of the President.” Bush wasn’t my first choice for President (McCain was my boy :( ) but I did vote for him. However, I liked Al Gore too. In fact they’re more alike then not. Hence the problem of the election: choosing the lesser of who cares (there I go quoting the West Wing again :) ).

Clinton Chaotic Good   ... I think not. Chaotic Neutral is more likely given his randomness (that depends on what your definition of is is  ). Gore and G.W. are more Lawful Neutral. Bush Sr. is Lawful Good.

P.S. edguy, You stole my sig :D I've been death destroyer of worlds for some time now. :p It's burried under that novel I call my sig. ;)

Mr.M&M: Why the hell is this happening again. Bush is stupid. That's final. No arguement about that. Republicans are hicks. That too is final. Eminem is a horrible rapper. That is final. Bush is a monkey.

Well, I think all of this banter illustrates the problem of trying to impose an arbitrary alignment system upon the political debate.

I believe that most people in politics do what they think is right and genuinely want to help people and make a difference, at least in democratic societies. Now what one defines as "good" and "evil" for the sake of these debates is really rather arbitrary.

I truly "evil" leader would be a dictator or demigouge (sp.?) who exploits their citizens for the sake of their own personal gain.(Hitler, Mousillini, Saddam Hussein). While I may disagree with a lot that both Democrats and Republicans say, I wouldn't characterize any number of them as evil.

Is it evil to be pro-choice or pro-life? Well that really depends on your frame of reference... Same thing with environmental issues, etc. I think it can be safely said that people of good intent may have different perspectives on the same issue, but that doesn't make one a good person and another a bad person.

I probably lean a little left of center, but I have many, many friends and family members who are staunch conservatives, and while I disagree with their viewpoints vehemently, I don't think any of them are "evil" people.

Evil people do things solely for personal gain, I find it hard to argue that many people in our government could not be making more money doing something besides politics. Hell, **** Cheney gave up something like 12 million dollars to be VP. Many democrats could be making a lot more money as lawyers or consultants.

Suggesting that pro-choicers are "Chaotic Evil" or non Environmentalist are "Lawful Evil" is a gross oversimplification of some rather complex issues.

Again, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

He-he, the tracking program censored out VP Cheney's first name!
