A very good movie, but not nearly as good as the first. Got a bit slow and long at some parts, followed the book even less, I believe. The big battle was outstanding. It seemed to last forever and thats not a bad thing. A bit cheesy, the ending of the battle. All in all a great movie. Third one will hopefully be the best.

In-fricking-credible. Un-fricking-believable. My mind has been officially blown for the second time. TTT is better than FotR.
I will refrain from spoilers (partially because Kay's brain no function well after being blown) but suffice to say the movie rocks. Gandalf's fight with the Balrog is awesome. Helm's Deep is bad-ass. Ents attacking Isenguard is b!tching. Wargs are gnarly. Legolas has some moves you won't believe. Gimli is great (and quite funny). Gollum looks more real than I do. See this movie!

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

I second that! But what really happened when he jumped up on Gimli's horse? It looked really weird IMO. Like he was jumping of the horse and it was played backwards or something... hmmm will have to see it again just to watch the details again.

TNT had a TTT special last night that included exclusive footage from the movie (including this scene). So I can watch it again and again at my leisure.

He grabs the front of the saddle strap and flips onto the back of the running horse. It's definitely not something an ordinary human could do, but it looks damn cool.

Hence all the cool gravity defiance (his little trick with the shield on the stairs at Helm's Deep rocked too).

That battle was just out of this world. So it wasnät true to the book but hey this is the movie... the books are still the best but the films add to the story. Sure it can be hard to understand why some things were changed but I am sure they had their reasons.
I reaaly liked the Uruk-Hai... I was almost scared in my seat

“Caw, Caw!” The call of the wild calls you. Are you listening? Do you dare challenge their power? Do you dare invade? Nature will always triumph in the end.

Kayless, where did you post about those hidden scenes on the extended DVD? I can't seem to remeber how to find them.

Thank you. I mostly hang out over on the BG2 board, I am heavily bitten... I only come over here to discuss big events like a LoTR movie or the World Cup
I think your excitement level will climax in less then 2 days then!!

Well 1 day left. And then Ill either be dancing off the walls like everyone else whos seen it, or I wont be. I assume its some pretty high-rate stuff in there so I assume Ill be dancing off the walls. Though Im one of the toughest critics when it comes to movies that do well. If I like a movie that does well with the major audience, then it really is good.

Well, I must say it was really, really good. I was, however, disappointed, mainly with : Faramir taking them to Osgilith, he wasn't the Faramir in the books. Also, I was getting annoyed with all the "crisis' of courage" and stuff, IMO they had too much and I was getting pissed half way through the movie. Also, I think they should have finished with the Isengard stuff, so that they don't end up finishing a story (Isengard) and starting a new one (Mordor) in RotK. Also, Aragorn falling from the cliff was a bit stupid IMO, and the elves weren't supposed to be at Helms Deep (that was a rather nice addition though, not complaining about it
).
Gollum and the Ents were wicked. I really liked Gollum and Smeagol fighting.
Gimli was hilarious and Legolas was really cool (especially when he leaps onto the horse, and he slids down the stairs shooting his bow). The big massive army of Uruk-kai was awesome. And the Ent attack on Isengard was cool.
Overall, a really good movie, just IMO it could have been better. The first 2 hours had terrible pacing, but oh well. I think I liked FotR better, but TTT was definitly worth seeing.
(especially for a ringhead like me)
A sad story: I bought 9 tickets last Wednesday. But, yesterday, right after lunch, 4 hours before the movie, I realised 10 of us were going. I hadn't counted myself when I pre-bought them...
I skipped both afternoon periods, went to the theater, and got one of the last tickets for the show we were going to.
Stupid me. I'm in enriched math too...

If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.

You've been smoking too much hobbit weed if you think the movie anything less than absolute perfection that we wretched mortals are utterly unworthy of. I would gladly die in defense of this indelible truth!

You gotta remember who the intended audience is, here. Ringheads and those that've read the books would pay to see a mediocre LotR movie, but to attract the elusive "mainstream audiences" the movies must be repackaged into three separate stories, albeit connected by the same story. A lot of the stuff thrown in, like the "crisis of courage," is overdone so the Clueless pick up on whats going on.Originally posted by Gaxx_Firkraag

And of course, Gollum does steal the show!

I watched a critic give this movie 3 out of 5 on Swedish TV yesterday... how is that even possible? He must not like fantasy.
Saw the same thing here in Denmark. A critic gave it 3 out of 6 stars. I think they're just doing it because they got too excited about the first one and gave it a full score. Now they feel like they were a bit too eager and is giving the second a lower score that it deserves. Personally I found TTT much better than FoTR, and think it should have been given a higher score than the first one.
