Aye, I feel what you mean. I don't know the Dutch books, but I tried reading The Fellowship in German first. Oh man, was that boring. I already find German in general a rather difficult language to read fluently, but when translating out of the English, it's difficult and doesn't feel "pure" anymore, but really translated. It took me half a year to read the first two books (out of six), and it wasn't really fun, so luckily I quit. The book is so much better in English. In general, I try to read books always in the original language, if possible.

I realize that as a mod you are trying to maintain a level of decorum in this forum. I also understand that you may have found DN's comment inflamatory either in general or for personal reasons. But what I don't understand is why you limited your comment to DN only. See the below submitted items in the same Top Ten list (ways to waste your life):
9. Plug yourself in to an online forum (bad luck Rav!)
8. Go to mc donalds, burger king or any other fast food resturaunt.
7. Join an organised religion.
5. Become a pacifist
4. Become a vegetarian (Life without meat )
2. Doing sports: One hour of excercise lengthens your life with 15 mins or somth. That's just a bad deal, people!

Between these, anyone that frequents a forum (which allpies to all of us), anyone that eats fast food, anyone that is a pacifist, anyone that is a vegetarian or anyone that plays sports are also wasting their life. In particular, #4 and #5 are at least as inflamatory as #7 because they also deal with someone's beliefs. The only two reasons that I can think that you singled out DN's post was either for personal reasons or as a specific attack on him. I have noticed a particular trend in SYM to bash religion and Christianity specifically, but I don't see how this is a mean-spirited attack in any way.

And DN's #1 post shows that none of this is to be takens seriously (which we don't).

For the record, I'm not accusing Damuna Nova of intentionally flaming. Based on his posting patterns, he has the tendency to be tactless without giving thought on the implications of his statements.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I tend to see his post as a lack of thought rather than having any deliberate intention to flame a group of people.

Daft comments they may be, but others won't see it that way.

Back then when I wasn't a mod, fable was offended when in my post I implied that I found it funny (for an ignorant child like me back in the 70's) to think that Agent Orange was some cool fruit drink.

Apparently fable among other people, are sensitive when it comes to the Vietnam war and the effects it had on both war vets and civilians.

As for the other posts mentioned by Darzog, I personally don't find them on an equal level with that of religious beliefs.

It is NOT a question whether DN had deliberate intentions to break forum rules or not. The point is, his HABITUAL BEHAVIOR is already disrupting the status quo. If DN can get away with it on the pretense that he has no intention of offending anyone, then anybody may as well use it as an excuse.

The problem is that DN has CONSISTENTLY PILED UP a number of infractions. Although each infraction may not on its own be as bad as >insert banned member here< , the accumulated citations against DN can not be ignored anymore.

I remember >insert member A here< and >insert member B here< posting just like DN when they were a bit new to SYM, but in recent months I don't recall anyone complaining about their posts. Apparently, these members made the necessary adjustments with the way things run around here.

So, your saying that a number of people are personally complaning to you about DN's posts? or is it just that because of the number of small infractions that he has made you watch him closer than other members and end up catching every small infraction he makes?
