Well I don't feel you can compare a nations attack on military targets in a war(or the pre-war state) with terrorists attack on civilians.

I stand correted, I was thinking about the wrong person for a sec. BUT what I do know now is that Ben Laden apperantly has said that something was about to happen in the US that will shock the world.
If this is so, than perhapts it's safe to assume that he is behind it all.

A suggestion for Moderators, I think a rollcall for us is in order to see if our fellow spammers are OK or not.

A side note : Why do I feel that US gonna take a real hard time rebuilding this economic thing since their main trading have wiped out ? :(

Sorry Xandax, that is not what I meant :) My comment was with regards to intelligence, not the tragedies.

The sad fact is it will be weeks before the full casualty number will be known. I even wonder if the organisation responsible will have the guts to step forward.

The only way I can think they will be identified is by the nations/activist groups currently suspected unite to push them forward... :(

Here's the latest from Sky News' Web Site:

Up in smoke

Then, just a few minutes later, another hijacked passenger plane was deliberately flown into the landmark building's second tower. With both engulfed in flames it didn't take long before first one then the other crashed to the ground.

More than 50,000 people work in the complex. An unknown number of people have been killed, but the figure is expected to reach catastrophic proportions.

Next, The Pentagon, perhaps one of the most potent symbols of American might was also hit by an aircraft. A 60-ft section of the building collapsed.

Warplanes scrambled

Another hijacked passenger aircraft crashed near Pittsburgh.

Fighter aircraft have been scrambled and are patrolling the skies over the US capital in case of further attacks on the capital.

Sky's Washington Correspondent Keith Graves said "There can be no doubt that any aircraft flying over Washington now will be shot down."

A separate fire forced the evacuation of the White House.

Hijack

American Airlines says two of the planes involved were theirs. One, flight 11 from Boston to LA had 81 passengers, nine crew and two pilots on board, the second, a flight from Washington Dulles to LA had 51 passengers, four crew and two pilots on board.

United Airlines says one of its aircraft, flight 175 from Boston to LA, a Boeing 757 has also gone down with 56 passengers, seven crew and two pilots on board.

A second hijacked United flight - number 93 from Newark to San Francisco - is also confirmed crashed. It went down 80 miles south of Pittsburgh.

'We're dying'

A person who answered the phone on the trading floor at interdealer-broker Cantor Fitzgerald, located near the top of the World Trade Center, said: "We're f***ing dying," then hung up. There was screaming and yelling in the background. A follow up call was not answered.

"This has got to be one of the most horrendous terrorist attacks perhaps ever perpetrated," terrorism expert Chris Yates told Sky News.

The Foreign Office has issued a number for worried relatives 020 7008 0000

There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Oh but you can. This comes straight from the Rainbow Six game manual.

"Consider the FBI's definition for terrorism:

'Terrorism is the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.'

If one removes the first four words of the definition and replaces them with 'War is the lawful...' one comes very close to General Carl Von Clauswitz's dictum that "War is nothing but the continuation of policy with other means."

This is quite comparable as the results of this day could greatly affect the world, and the immediate damage and casualties far exceed that of Pearl Harbor.

And the attack points were very strategic...the US main defense building and the worlds most important economic buildings. Those towers are GONE...how is this going to effect economies around the world.

Actually, the Texas border with Mexico has been closed, but Arizona and California remain open (currently), but with heightened security. I don't know about New Mexico.

In the UK, the last I heard, Westminster was closing down, the HQ offices on amber alert and the airports closing down.

I actually work for a company within Heathrow airport. I am in two minds whether to go in tomorrow...

1. The possible risk
2. I might not be allowed entry..

Better call my boss. :(

Do we know any GB members in these areas? I know this question has been asked...is there away we can all help to contact them?

If any of you guys can give - the hospitals are desperately short of blood...mobile units are being organised

Call 1-800 'give life' if you can help... :( I feel so helpless - as I am sure you all do - but some of you can do something...

First off this is not intended to be personal to anyone, you are all in shock as i was to the news of what happend.

I do however strongly suggest that everyone takes a deep breath and analyses the situation. To accuse anybody specifically of the crime seems pre-mature at this point.

The real issue here is the people who have lost their lives. They are the people who need our concern. Blaming anyone at this point is irrational, there are a lot of suspects.

Please do not continue to perpetuate hate against any group and/or nation, that behaviour is destructive.

I reitterate that this whole tragedy is shocking and has stunned me greatly, my prayers go to the families who have been effected by this devastating situation
