I am having a boring month ( needing to get my finances back in order after the excesses of January) so no, nothing new really. I gather from you saying you can't spend it that you have similar constraints? No fun

whats Kafka?
well when I go out of the country towards the south, like Mexico or central america you must take a birth certicate to show your citizenship. Well the last time someone had taken it with them since I was too young and wasnt as responsible apparently......anyhow it seems they had misplaced it since then. So now I have to get a copy of it....the only problem is getting it....the records building is close to my home, but I have never gone because there is no way they will give me one with out proper identification

Do you have a passport or anything like that? Or the American equivalent or a National Insurance card, those are good for identification...

Kafka is a writer.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Trial
Wrote about alienation and especially in the Trial about people caught up in bureaucratic processes they can make no sense of. Seemed to fit your situation
It is not that hard to get a copy birth certificate here. What kind of ID do you need there?

You need a state Identification..AKA California I.D...to get this you must have a birth certificate or passport........to get a passport you need identification or birth certificate to get a birth cerificate you need identification and so the processes repeats itself

Kafka-esque indeed. This cannot be insurmountable surely. Loads of people must find themselves in the situation. There must be other things they will accept. As Rav said, here a national insurance card, or medical card will do. Utility bills will serve (though that probably doesn't help you much). Student registration card? I don't know what you get as of right in the US but there must be a mechanism for dealing with this

Yep, sounds familiar. I remember the hoops I had to go through just to get a passport so I could open a bank account.
Your parents would be able to get you it, I expect, their names would probably be on it and they would have ID of their own.
