Yep, I cheered when he died, on the Titanic. That was the best three hour nap, I had ever taken in the theater. I woke up to see him die.

I totally agree with you on DiCaprio, DP ! Do you like Ellroy, DP?

Personally, I don't think the movie was better than the book although the moive was good and Christian Bale was brilliant. The book has some very tedious and monotonous parts, but it all adds to create the atmospere of alienation, emptiness and surface.

Parts about animals being killed, bother me. People being hacked to pieces, doesn't.

I read Ellroy, but the difference is with his writing is that his is nearly always after the fact and after the killing.

Ellroy wrote LA Confidential, and a fantastic book called American Tabloid. Most of his books are about the seedy underbelly of 50's USA, and they are a real eye opener

@DP I'm not especially squeamish, but towards the end of that book... yuck.

@Sleep LA Confidential is sitting on my shelf waiting to be read but it is a top quality film

When I referred to Ellroy in the context of liking sick things, I thought about the first book in the LA tetralogy, "The black Dahlia", and his early novel "Killer on the road". Killer on the road is a subjectively narrated story about a serial killer. Very good in it's genre, if you haven't, read it.

i am not too much of a reader, but i do read Dean Koontz once in a while(doorway to december, watchers, etc..) i have to read stuff twice for it to sink in! hence my not liking to read alot. i have read several "movie books" the client by john grishom(?) forrest gump(the woman who wrote it lives close by, they really screwed the movie!) star gate and a few others.

I've read it, a beautiful woman all carved up, then laid out. They still haven't found the killer.

OK, the only things more sick than that I can think of, is only my textbooks with authentic case histories. Once read a collection of case histories with patients with severe paraphilias, mostly involving murder and using body parts for different things. I do not recommend it

truth is always scary i guess thats why people usually prefer ficion.
let me see...i right now reading 'primitive mythology' by joesph campbell. a fasinating read. and going through a discworld phase where i re-read all of discworld books that i could get my hands on. my favorite character is commander vimes and the patrician

my alltime favorite horror novel is 'midnight blue' by nancy collins.

For all those who like Terry Brooks and his novels on Shannara, he has a new book out dealing with this land.
This is book number 9.

I was reading L A Noir the other day, the truly horrific rape scene at the start was scary

Ellroy is one twisted guy, one gets the feeling he vents his vitriol through his books. I liked White Jazz, that is one of the hardest books to read but is definately worth it.

Just purchased "The complete reference: HTML, 3rd edition", so I'm just messing around with html.
Also I've started reading a book about civilizations.
