X-bar is indeed the aritmethic mean.

(A side note: I don't know about you AJ/X-bar of Bell Curve, but from my personal experience, a lot of people who make a big deal of being "special" or "unusual" are really rather average, and a lot people who view themselves as "average" and "just an ordinary guy" indeed have unsusal aspects of their personality. Wonder why...I ought to make a study of this. )
