Holy as in sacred, or holy as in containing holes?

It's kinda weird. This morning I was biking along the green belt to swim practice, as I usually do. (the greenbelt is this sidewalk that goes through this expance of grass, and cuts through the neighborhood, ending at the neighborhood swimmingpool. At one point you have to cross a street.)
Anyways, usually there will be people walking, jogging, or walking their dogs. Most of the time, they'll be off to one side, and I can simply bike past them. Or, if I can tell that they are in my path, I will shout out excuse me! and they'll move to the side. And when they can't hear me, or if I don't feel like shouting excuse me!, I'll just go into the grass some, thus avoidding crashing into anyone.
Now, today there was this one woman walking her little white dog (dunno what kind). I figured I had enough room to simply bike past them, so I didn't say anything. But then her dog got into my path, and I had to stop short before I crashed into her dog. I guess the woman hadn't known I was coming up or something. But then she said, "maam, I have the right-of-way." I mumbled an apology, then biked off to swim practice.
Now I didn't say it to the woman's face, but holy crap! I could have run over her stupid dog, and here she is, lecturing me about right-of-way. Now I don't know if she did or not, but seriously. Here I was, on a bike (wearing my helmet), going at a much faster speed than her. I could have hurt myself or the dog. I wouldn't have minded me if she had said anything about that. But here this woman was, going on about right-of-way.
I got pretty pissed about it, though I didn't say anything to her. But if you ask me, she shouldn't be talking to a girl who is riding a bike, and going at a pretty fast pace about right-of-way when she is on her own two feet, walking slowly, and walking her dog. It just made me rather made. I mean, what if I hadn't stopped, and had run into her dog?
Sorry about this, but I really had to rant some about it/

What is right of way? She probably would have lectured you about, do you know how fast you were going? Do you know what you did, your parents will hear about this... Blah Blah Blah.

I have it. Nah nah nah nah.
Sorry WBG, I've had that happen with cars when I was younger, and dogs attacking me as I rode by on a bike. If you're in a car and a big dog chases you, you're fine. On a bike...it rips you off of it.

@WBG, hey that sucks, it reminds me of something that happened when I was like 10. I was biking with my old dog, he was a yellow lab and we came down this hill then it flattened out before going down a more steep hill then came my house. Anyways I was looking at the dog, and he moved towards me for some reason, then I look up and there's a car in the middle of the road coming toward me at the crest of the hill. I swerve out of the way so I don't hit my dog and it goes downhill from there. I ended up crashing up over the handle bars of the bike. I was in more shock then pain, I guess. The people in the car stopped and asked if I was allright and stuff, and by the look on their faces, the accident/my injuries looked horrible. So they asked me if I needed a ride home, and I said no, I'm ok, my house is right there. And hobbled off. The pain came later when me and my mom had to pull lots of little rocks out of the scrape on my arm. I scraped my face, right arm, left side and left leg, both knees. It was horrible.
And I'm thinking to myself; why are these people coming up over a blind hill in the middle of the road?

I never got hit by a car, I did however go biking down a steep hill that was a gravel road by mistake. I was camping with my brother, and we were following a path, and stupidly looking at the trees and some kids playing when suddenly, the tiny little slope turned into a REALLY steep hill, about a 60 degree angle. We started sliding down the hill on our bikes and I kicked my brother's bike over into the grass when he started to tip over.
I got dragged the whole way down the hill with my bike and ended up with gravel embedded in me everywhere. Wasn't pleasant. All in my face, mouth, leg, arm, side, everything. My mother and father just tossed me in the pool there to clean me off.

Burned like you wouldn't believe.

Heh...I was too smart and c0cky for my own good with an abusive alcoholic father, in a nasty neighborhood. That was the whole "problem child" problem in a nutshell. I had a habit of pushing peoples buttons when bored and not caring until I caught a beating for it.

I moved when I was four, but I don't remember it. And where on Long Island are you moving to? (you're moving to Long Island, right?) My grandmother lives in Garden City, so I go there pretty much yearly.
But yeah... I'm feeling better about the whole incident. I'm just happy that I stopped before I actually hit the dog or anything, because then I'd feel really bad.
