Black Gnomes 5 - 1 Avariel
"Well. here we are again for another fine match of the first round of the Fantasy World Cup and it's the Black Gnomes, who are playing in their first ever Cup, against the smart, winged elves. You may remember ToyToy from the last match, well he didn't have much to say (so we beat him to death) so it's just me on the commentating box once more.
And the game starts! And what ho! gnomes all over the pitch start creating mirror images of themselves, so as to confuse the Avariel, the whistle sounds and immediately the elves', frantically trying to dispel the illusions, lose possession to the tricky Gnomes and Tiax (or rather, 5 images of Tiax) lead the strike...with the ball eventually findin' the back of the net! (the Avariel goalie managed to save two of the illusiona balls!). The Black Gnomes keep on tryin' hard, and it seems that the 4 Avariel magicians are having a real hard time dispelling the illusions! as a certain Jansen Jansen keeps remindin' 'em of "back in the time of the circus craze in Athkatla when Aerie couldn't dispell those illusions created by that gnome" - gee, awfully long stories that must be drivin' the elven team mad! Soon, it's 3-0 and half-time. Comin' back on the pitch, the Avariel seem more determined, and in more control of the ball...one of 'em takes off to the air, kickin' down the field to another of the elves and what a bycicle kick! from one of the strikers hovering in mid-air, the ball just pounds the back of the gnomish net. The Avariel press on, but the Anti-Flying-Elverator is at last activated and prevents 'em from takin' to the skies again! The winged elves can't fly - and some of the storytelling gnomes tell their story yet again of "never knowin' winged elves who could fly - reference to Aerie perhaps)" which seems to unsettle elven nerves. In the end, a much more strategically prepared side beats the unimpressive Avariel of today! 5-1 is the final score!"
PS: According to FFIFA rules, a piece of machinery/design is allowed in FWC matches only if it is deemed adequate...and appropriate to the species/race. So far, FFIFA has ruled that Goblin Catapults, Dwarven Cannons and Gnome Anti-Flying-Elverators are not out-of-place inventions for these races. Only one such construct is allowed in a match and does not count as an extra man...but needs a man to use it.

Quarter-Finals
"I'm sorry we couldn't give you spectators at home a full update on some of the games. Here's a general summary:"
Dragons(+Golem) beat Tarrasques(w/king air elemental) -
"A game full of promises, as the custom-made, ginormous size of the fields seemed to suggest but it ended in disappointment for the fans in the early minutes as the Tarrasques, highly unintelligent as they are, decided to forfeit the match for a healthy meal of fans, drow linesmen, goblins, kobolds..etc...in a fit of animalistic behaviour - thus, losing by disqualification."
Nymphs/Sirens/Dryads beat Astafas -
"Well, the stunningly-beautiful team of babes had their way with the mysterious Astafas. His presence had been little known before the match and after, but whispers in the crowd suggested an immense power behind that lone figure. However, as football is a team sport and a check to his power was guaranteed by FFIFA, the queens of charm have made it through."
Golems beat Human Sorcerers (w/chain contingencies) -
"This was a real one-sided battle - as the sorcerers, even with chain contingencies, could not get through the golem's magic resistance. In the end, the sorcerers took a hell of a beatin' from the super-tough golems who were totally relentless - we all lost count of the amount of goals scored by the Golems"
We move on the next stage, after an excitin' first round! Matches in the quarter-final are:
(Aegis) Dwarves vs Werewolves (ME)
(Ode & Tamerlane) Dragons(+Golem) vs Black Gnomes (Kameleon)
(Nippy/Weasel) Titans/Wraiths vs Nymphs/Sirens/Dryads (Gwalchmai)
(Ned Flanders) Golems vs Mimics (Silur)
Once more, we ask all teams to donate their strategies within the next 48 hours! Enjoy!

Nippy, I believe we are in trouble.

now that is not fair, definately cheating, I DEMAND A REMATCH, besides they've all been genetically engineered so they are not distracted by food erhm.. i mean other teams/crowd and they have their complete focus on the game...

@Kammy, good so your goalie fills the goal... it's nice to know you provide supper.. erm i mean good challenge to my ever-so-hungry tarrasques...
nah nah nah nanaaaanahnanaa
Da'averan, you did
not submit a strategy
against your opponents - the Dragons - in the 2 days given (yes, 2 days may be little, but I want to keep the tournament flowin')
and strategies created before the draw do not count. However, being benevolent as I am, I looked at your previous posts and by the quote, I only see a use of extreme, unlimited violence from the tarrasques...which in any circumstance leads to disqualification. Sorry, but if you have any more complaints, take it to FFIFA.
PS: 8 teams left - bring on the tactics!! It is the manager who wins the game in this Cup, not the players (admittingly, they help too).

Hmm, well this could be a difficult match, however, I have good news. The Wraiths being undead are immune to the charms of the beautiful Dryad's, Nymph's and Sirens and my Titan's possess the Blind-Fight feat. Therefore, the Titans will be blindfolded to resist the charms. Plus, they possess performance skills. One of my Titan's will perform fantastically and will enrapture the opposition.
@ Weasel, you like that?

This is a fantasy world cup, not a sci-fi world cup. Technically we shouldn't even allow the borgs, but FFIFA has given them the all-clear.
Anyway, our strategy
mad: @Tammy who was meant to submit it) will always involve the golem laying down in fronnt of the goal, blocking it totally, and after that we'll tailor the dragons (of all colors) strategy accordingly.

Don't forget our nymph cheerleaders! They come into their own for the post-game celebrations.

I see "conspiracy theory" written all over this. Do they want the guys with the nymphs to win or the ones
without the nymphs to win.
We celebrate in style my friend...
And boost TV ratings targetting the valuable male audience at the same time. $$$

Golems vs Mimics.
Now this is too easy... Golems aren't that clever, so instead of just turning into footballs, the mimics turn into footballs and goals. The Golems, not realizing which goal is the real one will try to cover up all of them and at some point they will open up a glitch in the real one. At that point we attempt to score, preferably twice. After that we trust the Golems to stay defensive, so we drop back and roll around with the real ball. If they should decide to go on the offensive, we use the same tactic as in the previous game. This could be _the_ most boring game ever....

Right, posters will be big earners, the official video games, clothing ranges, aftershaves and deoderants will doubtless make a good start on our fascist multinational corporate empire. After that we'll buy the Coca-Cola corporation and then Disney and McDonalds and seeing as how we'll virtually control the American government by that point due to our corporate clout, the world will soon be ours.

You forgot movie deals
And then we'll buy own country, or better yet. One each

Ah yes, the movie and autobiography deals. The end result is still the same, we get billions of dollars, the nymph cheerleaders and our own country each.
Cool new avatar BTW, Benimaru was wicked. Though the blind one and the shadow demon were cooler, especially the shadow demon. Shizima, IIRC.

Werewolves Strategy:
The Werewolves will try to outrun the short dwarves' legs throughout the whole game, thereby playin' a 3-5-2 formation where the right/left backs are responsible for leggin' it up the field to join the attack, and crossin' the ball to the area at the far end. Style of Play: ALL-OUT ATTACK! Showing no mercy...oh yeah, the werewolf goalie - Jacko - will be carefully eyeing the dwarven cannon, if utilized again, so as to not be taken by surprise. Whenever defending, the Werewolves will resort to bite/claw tactics, takin' care to avoid red cards, though.
Super Move: This is the Secret Surprise which will be utilized if losin'...the werewolves will turn into wolves, howl, and hopefully scores of wolves will come to invade the pitch - effectively brakin' the dwarven defense and allowing the Werewolves to score.

I've been away on urgent... business ((in fact a training session near a nudist camp for girls 17-19 years only)). I promise to submit my strategy first thing tomorrow morning. Rest is required at the moment...
