This brings up another point that is continuing what I've been saying. Everything is a belief. I believe that I am sitting at a computer typing this up right now. I believe that I'm in a house in Coolidge, Arizona. I believe that I am listening to music. How do I know if any of these things are true? These are all perceptions and I'm believing what I percieve, thus making these perceptions beliefs. Since things can be percieved right or wrong, how do I know I am percieving these things right? Yes, it is confusing, but if you really think about it, how do you know anything is real? Okay, I'm going to stop now before I make myself paranoid.
Oh no, too late...

Since you are a genius, I won't belabor the history and philosophical perspective around solipsism. Given your superior grasp of these topics, however, I can only assume that you chose to flounder about like this because it gives you some sort of perverse pleasure. Being of a lesser mental stature than yourself, I do not want to assume to know your ultimate goal, but having read at length your "arguments", such as they are, I cannot help but wondering what your real purpose is: debating or trolling. If the latter, perhaps if you spent time with people who live under a bridge, you may feel more appreciated. ;)

Thantor, the concept "solipsism" has entered my mind too ;) I have to say though I don't believe Sailor Saturn to be trolling - she has previously posted several times in other threads that she is a genious, a physicist and a scientist. I actually think that she believes this. :(

I think you misunderstand the definition. It is not limited to science. This definition includes musical geniuses, mathematical genius, artistic geniuses, etc.

What was the point in saying this? You're obviously assuming that I came up with this on my own. As for the first 'definition,' I took an official IQ test and, according to it, I am a genius. BTW, IQ tests supposed to measure one's ability to learn. Someone with a low IQ may be able to learn as much as someone with a high IQ, they just have to work harder at it. As for the second definition, I did not read that quote and think, "Hmm...I'm a genius." I've been told by psychologists, teachers, my parents, and numerous other people that I'm a genius. I would greatly appreciate an apology for this rude and rather idiotic assumption.

I was not introducing any new definitions. And the "marching to their own drummer" thing was refering to the way I think. It had nothing to do with any damn definitions. I don't ****ing care if you agree with me on the whole damn belief/theory thing.

*shakes her head* I made no such mistake. You're the one assuming things that ain't true. I was not trying to add weight to my arguements. I was trying to end the damn discussion by explaining that I think differently than everyone else and see the two terms in an obviously different perspective. You haven't the authority, and neither does CE, to tell me I view them wrongly, nor in a non-scientific way.

Where the fluck did you get the idea that I was saying I'm superior. I wasn't mad, but I am now. All I did was give a reason for a previous statement where I said I think in a different way than everyone else. As I said, I try to avoid stating those facts, but I saw no other way to get CE to drop it since she obviously wasn't going to understand what I was saying.
Originally posted by dragon wench:

I know why it is and I stated why. That is all I was doing with those statements. I was not trying to say I'm superior and I never once said that I am. If you inferred that that is what I was saying, then that is your own flucking fault.

Thank you so much for your patronizing. With what I was saying that you're replying to, I was merely making a point about the broadness and generality of the word "belief."

I don't deserve these condemning attitudes ya'll have shown. I've done nothing wrong. Ya'll merely assume that I'm being egotistical and such and I wasn't.

I am not a solipsist. As I said, I was making a point about how broad the term "belief" is. You don't have to believe it and I may not have the degrees yet; but I am a physicist. I am a scientist. I am a genius. I am not dilusional, despite what you may think.

I have two points to raise:

1) Avoiding the filter to swear is unecessary and breaks forum rules, please refrain form doing such in the future.

2)If you had a problem with any postings by members you should have consulted me, my PM is open and you can email me, this type of attack is unecessary, if any of you have a problem with someone personally consult me or use PM's.

SS, stating that you believe you are a genious is never a substitute for valid arguments. I know you think you are a genious, you have told me that at least at 3 occations. You have posted previously that you are a physicist although you haven't even taken a physics class and you believe Quantum mechanics annihilate the laws of maths. You have also stated that you are a scientist, although you are a college student and you lack knowledge about basics concepts used by scientist and you don't even know what Nature or Science is.

SS, using self proclaimed titles in order to give higher credibility is not working - serious debates must be conducted with real arguments that is connected to the issue one is discussing.

You don't want to learn about science right now. Perhaps you will, in the future, and then I wish you good luck. I really believe you are a talanted young girl - don't waste your talent by refusing to take in knowledge. The difference between science as a field where professional trained scientist work and popular science, is very large. Should you choose a career in science in the future, you will know then.

I'll tell you right now that arguing about the validity of the damn tests is pointless as I don't give a flip about the tests. I'm just pointing out that my claims are not without basis.

By the second definition, you could say that. Or you could say he's practical. Or you could say that necessity is the mother of invention. Someone could be mentally challenged and still be a genius. There was/is a guy who was born with cerebral palsy(sp?). He can barely do anything, but he can reproduce any musical peice and is, basically, a musical genius. I'm not going to argue with you about these damn definitions of genius because it doesn't ****ing matter. I was trying to make a point that has nothing to do with whether or not I'm more intelligent than you. I don't ****ing care if you think I'm a genius or not.

I am not avoiding the filter to swear. IRL, I say things like flucking and shlit. It's what I naturally do. It's the same as when I said "I haven't the floggiest idea" instead of "I haven't the foggiest idea." Are "dang" and "crap" also breaking forum rules?

Going on the possibly flawed assumption that this is directed at me, I was attacked first. I have merely responded to unfair and unprovoked attacks.

As I have already said several times, I was not trying to "boost my authority" with the statement of me being a genius. I was merely making a comment about the fact that I think in a different way than everyone else.

It was a message to all, it applies to you also, if you wished to respond there was no reason that you could not have done that over PM, there is also no reason why you could not have PM'd me, as you know we do not appreciate personal attacks in SYM, if you felt one had been made then tell me.
