1 - Mystery of the Mountain
Many people and places in this region are involved in the side quest “Mystery of the Mountain.” Ang Tshe-ring (#1) will tell you that the spirits in the ancestral cave (#1a) are angry, which is a problem because the three sacred weapons hidden there are needed in the fight against the raiding Neanderthals. Da-wa Phu-ti (#1b) will admit that he stole the sacred weapons (which is why the spirits are angry), but that he was ambushed by Neanderthals and lost the weapons to them.
Note: Da-wa Phu-ti is the son of Kilu Tem-ba in
Shangshung Village.
To complete the quest, you’ll need to pass through the Neanderthal tribal caves (#1c) and
defeat Barmanu, the Neanderthal High Warlord. Barmanu has a stunning breath attack, and
he can call down meteors from the sky. If you get stunned and then hit with the meteors,
you’ll probably get killed, so dance around the warlord to avoid his special attacks, and
then attack him when it seems safe.
Once Barmanu is dead, return to
Shangshung Village and tell Kilu Tem-ba that his son is safe. For your efforts,
you’ll receive 22,000 experience points. You’ll never actually see the sacred weapons.
“My son? Alive? Oh, happiness! When he returns to me, I will forgive him. Let there be no more anger and folly.”
