Background

You'll trigger this quest automatically at the end of the quest Contract: The Phantom of Eldberg, when Kori and Kraki attack you and Jorund inside the inn in Arinbjorn in Ard Skellig (#1).


Walkthrough

Kori and Kraki will start the fight with their fists but then they'll switch to their weapons. No matter what you say or do, they'll kill Jorund, and then you'll have to kill them. Afterwards, when you leave the inn, you'll be confronted by their father Leif, who will accuse you of murder. The other peasants from the inn will suddenly have trouble remembering exactly what happened, and so you'll be forced to stand trial with Madman Lugos as your judge.

Next up, you'll find yourself in jail at Kaer Muire (#2). This will earn you 50 xp. When you speak to the guard outside your cell, you'll learn that it sometimes takes years for a trial to be scheduled. To get yours started more quickly, you'll have three options:

• You can use Axii / Delusion on the guard to convince him to let you out.
  
  
• You can make a deal with Simun Brambling in the back of the cell (but only after you've talked to the guard). Simun will give you a way to blackmail the guard in exchange for a future favor (which will eventually trigger the quest An Unpaid Debt). Then when you talk to the guard again, he'll let you out.
  
  
• You can start a fistfight with the other prisoners in the cell, including Simun. Once you've defeated all four of them, the guard will let you out.

When you meet with Lugos, Leif will already be there speaking against you. No matter how you respond, Lugos will find you guilty of murder, and he'll deliver a sentence of death by suffocation. However, he'll allow you to pay a "blood price" of silver for your crime instead, and when you can't afford the amount, he'll pay it for you. All you'll have to do is help his son Blueboy at the Cave of Dreams in the southern part of the Ard Skellig (#3). This will trigger the quest The Cave of Dreams, unless you've already completed it, in which case you'll earn an extra 80 xp for being so thoughtful. But either way, Lugos will let you go, which will complete the quest.
