Overview

1 - Crossroads

This is where you'll start out in the game.


2 - Willoughby Battlefield

You'll need to visit this battlefield during the quest Missing in Action. You'll find lots of corpses and a few chests here.


3 - Cackler Bridge

The gate on the western side of the bridge will start out barred. You'll only be able to open it from the western side.


4 - Ransacked Village

You'll pass through this village during the quest Lilac and Gooseberries. When you return, you'll meet a villager named Dune in front of one of the houses. He'll give you the side quest Missing in Action.


5 - Ruins

You'll encounter some deserters at the ruins here. If you loot the chest in their camp, then you'll find a Diagram: Serpentine Steel Sword and an Interrogation Report, which can trigger the quest Scavenger Hunt: Viper School Gear.


6 - Ford

You'll rescue a merchant named Bram here during the quest Lilac and Gooseberries.


7 - Dune's Farm

You'll find three chests here: two inside the house and one behind the house. Dune is involved in the quest Missing in Action (#4). Eventually he (and perhaps Rhosyn) will show up here.


8 - Bram the Merchant

This is where Bram will end up after you've rescued him at the ford (#6).


9 - Inn

You'll meet two people of interest inside the inn:
You'll also find your "stash" chest inside the inn. Items placed in the stash can't be stolen, and you'll be able to access them from any of the stashes in the game (which, like this one, will usually be found in inns).


10 - Notice Board

Reading the notices on this board will mark several undiscovered locations on your map and also give you the quest Contract: Devil by the Well.


11 - Willis

Willis will give you the quest Twisted Firestarter. Once you've completed the quest, Willis will start acting like an (amateur) armorer. You'll also find a grindstone next to Willis.


12 - Odolan's House

Odolan is involved in quest Contract: Devil by the Well.


13 - Abandoned Site (Shrine)

If you kill the ghouls here, then you'll earn 90 xp, and some peasants and an herbalist will show up.


14 - Abandoned Village (Hovel)

This village is involved in the quest Contract: Devil by the Well.


15 - Mislav's Cottage

This cottage will start out locked, and you'll never be allowed to enter it. You'll need to work with Mislav during the quest The Beast of White Orchard.


16 - Abandoned Site (Sawmill)

If you defeat the ghouls here, then you'll earn 90 xp, and some peasants and a merchant will show up.


17 - Tomira's Cottage

This cottage will start out locked, and it will only open up once you've triggered the quest The Beast of White Orchard. Inside, you'll meet the herbalist Tomira. She'll give you the quest On Death's Bed.


18 - Cottage

Outside the cottage here, you'll meet an old woman. She'll give you the quest A Frying Pan, Spick and Span.


19 - Merchant

At this spot, you'll meet a man claiming to be a merchant. He'll give you the quest Precious Cargo.


20 - Nilfgaardian Garrison

You'll meet two people of interest at this garrison outpost: the quartermaster, who is an amateur blacksmith, and the officer, who is involved in the quests Lilac and Gooseberries and The Beast of White Orchard. You'll also find a grindstone and an armorer's table here.


21 - Hidden Treasure (Locked Chest)

You'll find a locked chest in the river here. To open it, you'll have to retrieve the Temerian Lily Key from the corpse on the west bank. Inside the chest you'll discover some Blood-Soaked Military Orders. Picking up the orders will trigger the quest Temerian Valuables.


22 - Guarded Treasure (Verrieres Family Crypt)

Inside this crypt you'll find a Diagram: Serpentine Silver Sword and a Letter from Witcher Kolgrim of the Viper School. Picking them up can trigger the quest Scavenger Hunt: Viper School Gear.


23 - Hidden Treasure (Abandoned Camp)

Inside this camp you'll find Scrawled Notes. Picking up the notes will trigger the quest Dirty Funds.


24 - Hidden Treasure (Spy's Camp)

Inside this camp you'll find Spy's Notes. Picking up the notes will trigger the quest Deserter Gold.
