I prefer using the flame and acid arrows because I feel like I am dealing some real pain out there (unless they reflect back).

First, @Alson, how do you see when a melee attack is "disrupted"?

Anyway, we have another revelation from User...
Seems like the way the programmers choose to make "friendly" spells
unstoppable by MR.
I mean, many white spells are intended for friendly use...
Interesting.

Should we label Telly Field as ultimately cheesy, or consider it
clean, given its defensive purposes?? :)

I could try to explain, but Xyx will do it much better:
Quoted from Xyx's Manual
Weird spell that is deceptively useful against creatures without ranged abilities. (it will not disrupt spellcasting). It will not affect the party and has no save (though not all creatures are affected). The constant teleporting messes up melee attack resolution, because even taking a small step usually resets the personal initiative round.

Clean!!
I do NOT use cheesy spell, so it's impossible for me to discover one!

:p

On a serious note - i don't think Telly is cheesy...
It's just one of those overlooked, overpowered spells.... :D

Not all of them... ;)

Yes, I read that, but still I don't see how you can notice that
on the field. Do you count enemy attacks?

Anyway, let's see if I get it right.
A fighter with many attacks, has to do them in sequence in his
round, or some will be wasted.
Telly field "forces" breaks in this continuity in a chaotic manner.
So, in AVERAGE, we could say that our fighter acts AS slowed.
This effect is strenghtened by the fact he could be indeed teleported
away and lose entirely his target for a while.

Add to this the fact the he could be also EFFECTIVELY slowed
(Greater Malison + multiple Slows ....), and this explains
how I survived the Eclipse battle!!!!!
:D

Heh, thanks for that link Alson...very interesting watching the masters at work :D

As Xyx is doing (or has hopefully done) the AI for RTW, close attention should be paid to how he thinks. I'm worried already :D ;) :)

I was playing with triggers/sequencers late last night and decided to try out telly field... Queued up Greater Malison + Slow + Telly Field in a lvl.7 sequencer. Worked absolutely beautifully on one of the random encounter parties. They were definitely "slower" :D and were being teleported around from time to time.

I still have to try this out against more serious opponents, but as our kensaimage guru Littiz can testify, it has potential...

If teleport field byparsses MR it could be very very useful against those bad mind flayers who want to eat our brains...
How nice! :D
Where we came from, we don't know
Where we're going.... (even worse)
And about who we could be, we actually have trouble in clearly defining the term "to be" in the first place...

Teleportation field, got to try that. A spell I use all the time is web. Greater mallison+web and the enemies wont be moving an inch. Very valuable spell early on.

Queued up Greater Malison + Slow + Telly Field

Correct order, too! ;)
That combo is killer. Slow has already -4 to save.
Greater Malison raise it to -8!
Even ToB enemies will fear it!
With telly field, too....

I still have to try this out against more serious opponents, but as our kensaimage guru Littiz can testify, it has potential...

Ask Alson...

Anyway, about the guru thing (: o)
I've tried a Pally.... discontinued
I've tried a fighter/mage/thief solo... discontinued
I've tried a cleric/thief... close to the end, moderately fun
I've tried a berserker/mage, fun...
I'm trying a berserker, PURE class... moderately fun...

So far no one surpasses the Kensai/Mage, in terms of fun and satisfaction!
Also the unbuffed, un-armored style of play belongs to it

Definitely a killer combo, and in the right order indeed!
Makes even the most powerful enemies tremble before the might of a level 14 mage... :D

Pally - fun to roleplay.
F/M/T solo - can be fun if you can stand playing solo (i can't).
Cleric/Thief - interesting combo.
Berserker/Mage - overkill :D .
Berserker - i don't know why, but i just CAN'T play a PC who can't cast spells.

Littiz, you shuold try soloing a Sorcerer.
Can rip through everything, even unbuffed (that's why Mislead, Stoneskin, Mirror Image and PfMW all have 0 casting time with the Robe ;) )...
Un-armored? Yes, a Sorcerer will qualify... :p

And then cast "spook" at them to make'em really tremble...
So they save at -10 and can't even really run away because they're slowed ;)

Noticeably, I agree to every single line! :)
But I have to confess that I would like to play a multiclassed Barbarian/Sorcerer half-orc someday....

Pally: boring.... (roleplaying wise) you have to say always the RIGHT thing... boring! I want to say the good thing, that's all!
I don't like them too much..

Berserker: yes, I know, BG2 is BG2 because of the spells... but I wanted to try! At least a cool class...
Magic left to Kelsey, Jan and Anomen!
Obviously I've taken a female, and decided to restrict to leather armors... cool you know...
Anomen got humiliated by Kelsey too! :D
But probably I will refuse him too at last, to see the Kelsey-Imoen thing... so Immie will say something!!!!!
(@Jason: will it happen whenever I stop the relationship???)

Hm, don't like soloing, first. Not much realistic, not enough interaction
or roleplaying..

Second, I know sorcs can do it easily, but they're too much repetitive,
and have to sacrifice too many spells.
A kensimage can go unbuffed more than a sorc, being effective even WITHOUT
spells...  :D

Why should the fact to be a Paladin stop you from acting good and kind?
Well, if you are an Inquisitor... Maybe...
But if you "roleplay" a Cavalier or Undead Hunter you only have to be... unkind... to Dragons or Undead! :D ;)

I agree that it could be boring, anyway.
I always want to try one, but I never dared actually trying so far :(

Why should the fact to be a Paladin stop you from acting good and kind?

As the older members of the BG2 forum know well, I love to play Neutral/Good
characters, and sometimes Neutral/SuperGood!!! :)
See, a pally is too restricted... I can't play this role!
Maybe I'd have even more fun in a evil char...
Pally have a restricted Lawful Good. Aerie is "more good" than the standard Pally!

Example:
You see Viconia about to be set on fire.
A paladin, in BG2 world, sees her as a manifestation of evil and will approve
the thing.
My Neutral/Good chars say that killing a defenseless person is
wrong, no matter what (all the more without evidence of crime) and fight to
free her.
A Neutral/SuperGood char frees her avoiding at all costs to kill the fanatics  (succesfully :D )

(someone could point out what is Aerie's reaction? I don't remember it..)

Aerie's reaction was IIRC that the drow were the enemies of the avariel, hunted and killed them, so she definitely didn't like her joining. I can't remember if she wanted her saved or not.
