Think he said that the avg playthrough was around 80 hours, he didn't mention it being only the main quest. So I assume that is with some side quest aswell.

Expecially because Phaere specifically recommend you to use a stealthy approach and not kill anyone.

To me it does seem like a mistake that everyone goes hostile, though none actually sees you stealth in and swap the eggs.
