When you reach the sunken chest at the bottom of the pool of water in Nornal, you will have finished the The Coldest Sleep quest and be ready for another. Your orders are now sending you to the city of Bravil, where you are to kill a Wood Elf named Ungolim while he visits an ancient statue known as the Lucky Old Lady. Your instructions state that he visits the statue every night between 6:00pm and 1:00am, and that Ungolim has been alerted to danger, so be prepared for him to attack you on sight. Once again, the guards have been bribed, so an open fight in the city shouldn't land you in jail.
Ungolim arrives at the statue precisely at 6:00pm, just as the instructions stated. Use a sneak attack to get the battle started and then dodge his arrows while firing your own ranged weaponry (or simply close in for melee). When the Wood Elf drops to the ground, you'll receive an update to travel to the city of Anvil and search the barrel behind the pond for your next contract. However, you also get the message that "your blood turns to ice as a familiar shadow draws near."
As soon as you receive that message, a very angry Lucien Lachance enters dialogue with you. At first he accuses you of betraying the Dark Brotherhood, but then realizes that you've just been following orders. Apparently every dead drop since the Draconis family has been falsely planted and has had you killing members of the Black Hand - J'Ghasta, Shaleez, Alval Uvani, Havilstein Hoar-Blood, and now Ungolim the Listener himself. In fact, the Black Hand believes that Lucien is the traitor and he is now being hunted. He asks you to go to your next dead drop and lie in wait until the imposter drops off the false contract.
Once you've uncovered the traitor's identity, you're to meet with Lucien again at the Applewatch farm that you previously visited during the Next of Kin quest. This takes us to the Following a Lead quest.
