GameSpy's Resident Cynic on Troika's Closure |

In his most recent editorial, GameSpy's resident cynic offers his personal thoughts on the shuttering of Troika Games. It's a pretty good read for anyone interested in another opinion, and is pretty much summed up with the final two paragraphs:
But Troika's reputation had become "creative developers with consistent bug problems" and that's what made it impossible for it to secure funding for additional titles. It's an unfortunate situation, and one that seems preventable from the outside. Would scaling back a bit on the scope of projects or perhaps hiring a few more engineers or scripters have helped? We'll probably never know now.
I wish the talented employees of Troika, and its founders, who happen to be three of my personal video-game heroes, the best of luck in future endeavors. My hope is that their experience has given them further insight into how to keep the creativity but lose the quality issues. If that's the case, then there's a whole group of talented guys out there just waiting to produce the next killer RPG.
