Mass Effect 2 Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC Reviews

Several more reviews for Mass Effect 2's Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC made their way to the web this weekend, and they're all pretty enthusiastic.

GameCritics gives it an 8.5/10:
I can't say for certain that players who may made different choices than I did will see the same content (I play the extreme Paragon path) but I can say that what transpires at the end finally feels like a logical, believable progression of events, and has definitively closed the unresolved Liara situation to my satisfaction. Shadow Broker is the best Mass Effect 2 DLC by an interstellar mile.

Metro.co.uk gives it a 7/10:
We'd love to give the game an even higher score but at barely more than two hours it's still extremely short and has little to no replay value. It is however the first downloadable extra for the game that feels like it's been made with the same care and attention as the original.

The Examiner gives it an "Excellent" verdict:
This DLC lets players revisit old venues as well as experience new ones, eventually culminating in the raid of the Shadow Broker's hideout. These new environments are very impressive. There is also a enjoyable car chase that allows players to pilot a car in pursuit of an enemy which is something unseen in the series. Thankfully it doesn't outstay its welcome and in fact adds to the whole experience by changing things up. There is some humorous dialogue between Shepard and Liara during the chase which was a welcome addition because it grounds the relationship of the two into something meaningful. The story is also quite good and focuses on Liara's growth as a character within the series. As a fan of Liara in the first game this was a big plus. Players will have a choice of wooing her again if she was their lover in the previous game. But the most significant part of the story is that it will eventually tie-in with the inevitable Mass Effect 3. Considering the outcome of the DLC, which I will not spoil, I am very excited.

The Final Dungeon doesn't score it:
Overall, Lair of the Shadow Broker provided me with two hours of solid entertainment. The new locations range from interesting (Liara's apartment) to jaw-droppingly awesome (the exterior of the Shadow Broker's ship). Bioware continues to deliver the best dialogue in the business. The fights are tough and rewarding, the cut scenes are polished, the story is good, the Shadow Broker is one ugly badass, and if Shepard turns on the charm, there's even some of Bioware's patented human-on-alien sex to be had.

And Sarcastic Gamer doesn't score it, either:
So, is this DLC worth 800 MSP? Without a doubt, this is the best of the three DLC. While I thoroughly enjoyed Kasumi's plot and having her join my team and the plot for the Overlord DLC, the Lair of the Shadow Broker takes the cake in terms of story. The story clocked in at about 3 hours for me on Veteran difficulty. There are things to do after the main story is over, but I did not get into those for spoiler sake. For me, this DLC was definitely worth the 800 MSP spent.
