We've only just had a Paradox Interactive Steam Sale where both Mount & Blade and Mount & Blade: Warband were 50% off, but apparently the game really needs to garner more sales, as Steam now offers 75% off Mount & Blade and 66% off Mount & Blade: Warband.

This makes the vanilla version about 3 EUR/USD dollar cheaper, but personally I would advise first-time purchasers to go for Warband in this deal.
