Ukrainian developer Deep Shadows' White Gold: War in Paradise and The Precursors were pretty well-received in Russia, but it doesn't look like we're going to be seeing either title here in North America any time soon. The good news, however, is that Wesp (of Vampire: Bloodlines unofficial patch fame) just wrote in to let us know that he's been busy releasing English translation patches for both titles. The current version of White Gold's translation patch can be nabbed from AtomicGamer, while The Precursors' translation patch is ready for download over at Space Sim Central.

According to Wesp, the patches primarily restore the English subtitles that the company was already working into the games in preparation for their Western releases. He's obviously partial to The Precursors, as he calls it "a great sci-fi RPG that even includes 'Elite' kind of gameplay and is by some considered up to par with Mass Effect and other western RPGs". If anyone here gives either game a go, let us know what you think!
