Five Roguelikes Worth Your Time

If you've been meaning to dabble in the world of roguelikes but don't know which of the hundreds out there are worth your time, there's an editorial that covers five of the better titles over at Wild Gunmen. I've been meaning to try Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, but have yet to find time:
It's a rather deep roguelike game, sporting tons upon tons of species to choose from and classes that correspond with them. Its got the (random) part that is ever-so important to a roguelike game everything from the levels to the items you find to the colours of the clothes you find are different every single time. It's great fun, especially since it is unabashedly brutal there are some gods you can pray to that demand you butcher corpses and pray over them, or set every book you find on fire. It is also worth mentioning that you can eat everyone you kill in this game. Everyone.

My recommendation is to get the (tiles) version pictured in the screenshot, as it makes things a lot easier to read and is quite attractive. Definitely give it a try and I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
