Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned Preview

NowGamer has slapped up a brief preview of Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned, during which they primarily compare Propaganda's action RPG to Lionhead's Fable series.
What we can reasonably deduce from this is that Disney is taking games seriously. One look at Armada Of The Damned and it's clear, this has more in common with Fable II than Johnny Depp; it isn't replicating a movie's linear narrative, this is an action RPG taking place in the fantastical and mythical world of pirates. Taking place a long time prior to the movies events, Propaganda games has the freedom to focus on making a game, instead of a movie-game (it's hard not to think of that as two dirty words).

That's not to say that this won't partially be based on the movies, but you can forget setting sail with Orlando Bloom; it's more to do with the themes and style serving as a backdrop. What's more important is which particular RPG elements are influencing Propaganda Games as they craft an open-ended, semi-open world adventure for aspiring buccaneers. The Fable series is clearly a direct comparison; your custom character here also changing and adapting depending on the choices you make and your style of play.
