Monolith Software Announces Monitoring Solution for MMO Project in Development by Bioware and Lucasarts

Flexible and Scalable Solution Hit All the Requirements for Massive Online Environment

ST. CHARLES, ILLINOIS June 30, 2010 Monolith Software (www.monolith-software.com), developer of the industry's most versatile technology management solution, announced today that BioWareâ„¢, a division of Electronic Arts and LucasArts, a division of Lucasfilm Entertainment Company Ltd., have selected Monolith Software as the core monitoring and management solution to support Star Wars®: The Old Republicâ„¢ (www.starwarstheoldrepublic.com), a story-driven, massive, multiplayer online game being developed at BioWare's Austin, Texas studio. BioWare chose Monolith for its robust feature set and ability to manage the real-time monitoring of multiple thousands of devices across several data centers in the United States and EMEA. The flexibility and scalability of the solution was a fit for BioWare's IT requirements to support the future growth of the company's largest electronic entertainment project ever.

"We are building a large game that will be supported by an expansive, complicated IT environment," said Ruben Cortez, director of infrastructure and services of BioWare. "When you have this complex of an environment for a business reliant on continuous connectivity, you need a monitoring solution that can manage that in real time. We are looking forward to working with Monolith's rich feature set. It fit into our Linux environment and met all of our requirements, including specific customizations."

The BioWare IT team has had significant experience with traditional monitoring solutions on the marketplace, but they knew that those solutions didn't fill the requirements necessary to handle the rigorous and dynamic environment of a global online game.

"We needed a solution that would not require a large footprint so we can identify and respond at Internet speed. Monolith won us over for its robust feature set, real time dashboards, reduced total cost of ownership and commitment to us as customers," added Cortez.

Monolith Software's solution is a multi-tenant, fault/event management and availability/performance monitoring solution that collects, analyzes and correlates data through powerful, web-based dashboards, allowing service providers to visualize and monitor their business in real time. Monolith's out-of-the-box, multi-tenant portal providers customer specific, real time access to vital performance data such as utilization rates of service, application and network availability, and root cause of service interruptions.

"As BioWare and LucasArts are endeavoring to build one of the world's largest online gaming environments, maintaining service levels to players all over the world will be critical to their success. Monolith Software has built a solution for businesses like BioWare whose services are entirely dependent on IT," said Jeff Parker, president and CEO of Monolith Software. "We help service providers accelerate their time to market with a consolidated platform that deploys quickly. Our product is designed to scale for large environments with the flexibility to monitor and accept new technologies easily. We offer our customers a future proof solution that has demonstrated a short time to value and lowers total cost of ownership across the board."
