German website PCGames.de has profiled twenty excellent PC games that unfortunately didn't reach the financial success that they rightfully deserved. Planescape: Torment, Deus Ex, Jade Empire, Anachronox, Arx Fatalis, and Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim are all included:
Planescape Torment by Black Isle Studios and Interplay is now considered one of the outstanding RPGs of the last decade. Nevertheless, the publisher could sell only 400,000 copies worldwide. Thus, only the development costs were ever recovered. In retrospect, Interplay has claimed that both marketing strategy and package design were to blame for the lack of sales. Anybody who has not played Planescape Torment today should not miss this masterpiece in terms of story telling in any case.
