Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Reviews

If Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening still hasn't made its way to your hard drive yet, you should know that four more reviews of the expansion pack hit the Internet this weekend.

The Adrenaline Vault gives it a perfect 5/5:
Dragon Age: Origins Awakening is an expansion. A huge expansion, but still an expansion. And as such, it far exceeds all the benchmarks set by expansions to other titles. Priced at 60 percent the cost of a normal game, it's still a bargain and offers many hours of thrills and adventure. You'll get attached to your companions (though not physically) just like you did in Origins, you'll find yourself occasionally spluttering at the NPC conversations around you, you'll get caught up in the story as it unfolds, and you'll keep coming back for more with multiple characters to see how the different subplots affect the outcome. Say good-bye to your friends and family, and you might want to see how many sick days you have left. It's time once again to show the Darkspawn your heart, and then show them theirs!

GameShard gives it a score of 8.0/10:
Awakening is a worthy expansion, and one that offers some genuinely worthwhile additions to Dragon Age Origins, particularly so in terms of expanded mechanics but also with regard to the storyline. But it does feel a little half-hearted at times; discarding the likeable original cast for the new crew of less fleshed-out characters feels like a bad move, and the new environments come across more as remixes of existing content than entirely new ones, despite some interesting sub-plots. Awakening is an enjoyable romp and it's great to return to Dragon Age, but in contrast to classic Bioware expansions like Tales of the Sword Coast, Throne of Bhaal, and Shadows of Unrentide, there just isn't seem to be as much here.

Gameplanet gives it a score of 7.5/10:
For us the trip back into Ferelden was worth the purchase. Don't get your hopes too high, but certainly if you enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins there is no reason why you wouldn't enjoy Awakening. The added content, spells and techniques are great simply because when it comes to this title, more is better.

The best experience with this title will be had by someone who enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins until the very end.

And Extreme Gamer gives it a score of 8.0/10:
Even before I typed up this review, the hardcore 'Dragon Age' clan have already made up their minds. 'Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening' is a must buy... and if you love Dragon Age, how could you disagree? I wasn't totally sold on everything Bioware added to the new story, and I felt a little (tired) of running around at certain times, but that is bound to happen from time to time-- even in the greatest of RPGs. However, when it was all said and done, I felt completely entertained by the entire '˜Awakening' package, and happy I made the journey into Amaranthine. It's going to be a long wait for 'Dragon Age 2' (any amount of time seems long), but I'm sure Bioware will keep us stacked with new DLC along the way, and if its all at the quality of Awakenings, then just maybe all the wait won't be so bad.
