Puzzle Quest 2 Previews

Impressions of Puzzle Quest 2 continue to roll out of the Game Developers Conference, and that means that we have three more articles to draw your attention to.

Destructoid:
The first Puzzle Quest was just a puzzle game with some role playing sense wrapped around it. The sequel is much more like an RPG. There's real exploration that leads to real dungeon crawling experiences. There's now four heroes, each with hero-accurate class abilities. I played as an Assassin, but there are also Sorcerer, Barbarian and Templar classes to choose from. Each can now equip and use weapons and armor.

GayGamer:
In the "reworked" category, you'll notice a total revamp of the story presentation. No longer will players move a little marker around on a map. Instead they'll move a character around the world through a Diablo-like isometric perspective. The overall art style has moved away from an anime inspired look into something I would describe as "Heavy Metal" fantasy. It sounds like a small change, but seeing your character and their environments up close really helps set the stage and new look is definitely an improvement.

And MTV Multiplayer:
There have also been a few tweaks to the gameplay, most notably the removal of gold and experience gems from the game board. In their place are action gems, which look like metal gauntlets. Matching three action gems will earn you action points, which let you use equipment.
